Depends on the community it varies a lot. I love my home and loved working the sales rep, but working with construction manager was very difficult. My house is not 100% complete, since I still have contractors coming in and out to fix the house. Finish touch ups are not cleanly done even after I moved in 3 months ago.

Signed contract in March 2021, given a Feb. 2022 complete date. Did not close until May 2022. Attention to detail was lacking. Lots of punch list items. Subcontractors did not read prints. Custom modifications seemed to be problematic. A/C unit appears to be undersized.

We were extremely excited initially about our home buying process. It went great till the construction started. Too many mistakes during the construction process. To compound to the problem the quality of workmanship was extremely poor. The supervision in the initial phase of construction was lacking. The builder had to re- work on lot of issues. After taking possession we have had roof leaks, the air conditioner not working etc. Although the builder has been responsive and fixing these issues, as a customer we are not very excited about this. We also worry what other issues can crop in the future and how would Drees response once the warranty period is over. Thanks! ... Más

Any excuses they said were due to Covid and supply chain problem. Really!?

There was a lack of quality control and project oversight throughout the build. Even after the build there are still a number of punch list items that need to be completed and the only response I ever receive is when I push on the builder.

Not the worst, but not the best.

Make sure to oversee every stage, especially if a bigger home. They cut corners like a spec builder, so stay on top of the project. The craftsmanship is average, you have to push for exceptional quality.

Too many things promised leaving us without in the end. They seemed to rush through process without fully knowing enough to explain items/not allowing the experts such as tradesmen to fix issues. They hired handy man which showed the below average work that they wanted us to settle for.

We bought this home as a spec home for almost a million and while we like many of the design features the workmanship has been shoddy. We have had to make multiple requests for repair to many items. Most of the time we get no defined time for when repair will be made and the repair workers just show up. Often this happens at inconvenient moments for when people work at home. Our point of contact after closing for repairs either doesn’t respond or workers show up unannounced. We have had to have a couple of repairs fixed multiple times. It takes several requests to get issues fixed. Examples are: poor drainage in back yard, front door handle won’t latch properly, drawers stick, oven didn’t work for weeks with known issue, shower in master leaked despite repair and needed second repair. Items addressed at initial walk through not fixed before closing (still had tape in areas that needed to be fixed like obvious seam in carpet, etc). Since purchasing our home, we have had numerous issues with tankless water heater, had 4 plumbers look at it and 2 more from Rheem. The bigger issue is the lack of communication from the after rep. I have asked multiple times via calls or texts for a follow up with no responses. The responses seem like the individual doesn’t know what home or person he is speaking with.

Missy from the Sales Team was great, she is always smiling, willing to help and very customer centric. Unfortunately, for us it was a nightmare trying to fix the issues that arise on the first day, we got a dirty house, cabinets in the kitchen were the worst, pot filler did not work, house was clearly lack of supervision, so really bad experience with the architect and his manager, I won't say names here, but ZERO customer centric and lack of responsibility.

Now is the absolute worst time to purchase a new build home. The Buyer is truly only a number and sincere customer service will never again exist until such time that bad craftsmanship and service are rewarded with immediate termination like it used to be.

Experience did not match expectations set forth by sales agent. Many quality issues. Lack of attention to detail and pride in work done by trades. Minimal communication once earnest money paid and home took 8 months longer than originally communicated.

When one pays this much for a home one should expect quality material, quality workmanship (paint drips on floor), timeliness addressing issues (some still not done after closing on 12-30-21). Homebuying experience not at all what we expected for homes this expensive and should be of great quality.

Due to Drees reputation of quality custom home builder I was expecting near perfect craftsmanship. I have too many issues wrong with my house. The walls are not solid so you can hear every toilet flush and every shower. There’s broken tiles missed during the walk through that most people would miss unless you start living here. It was filthy when we moved in and every pencil marked measurement by the builder is visible. There’s a lot of half done projects I’m noticing and I’m not very happy since the warranty department is slow to respond.

First let me say that during the pandemic, issues came up that couldn’t be helped. This is completely understandable as everyone had problems to a certain extent. With that being said the promises they made seemed reasonable until it came down to getting the issues resolved. The communication was horrible from the Manager in the Houston area. I had to make numerous calls to ask specific question about my specific build. If she didn’t know the answer (which was plenty) she would tell me someone would “get in contact with me”. They even tried to add on costs that was never agreed upon and say it was there from the beginning. I would constantly refer her to the signed purchase agreement that never showed the extra add-on. The design center is a joke for the upgrades. I am still currently having problems getting them to fix issues we pointed out in the beginning when the house was completed. They never cleaned the mess they made upon purchase of the house. I had to clean up behind them on the day we moved in because no one came to clean their mess. I would never recommended this company to anyone looking to get a custom home built. Look for someone that can actually keep their promise when you sign paperwork. This company is not of them. ... Drees builds a good home overall. With that said, this was an extremely difficult and frustrating process due to multiple miscommunications from start to finish. I would not build with Drees again.

Hirer good inspector Michi and Scott were great.

I was rushed through the design process. Was not given sound advice. Nothing else was done on time. There was turnover between the builders and then we as a family felt it was our job to continue the communication.

Home was not ready in time and the quality of work was very poor.

This was a very frustrating experience with many mistakes and issues along the way. I understand that you can only do do much with 3rd party workers/vendors, but there was seemingly a major issue/ setback with every step in this build process. Parker our CM and Cory our salesperson were as helpful and informative as they could be. The fact that we have so many unfinished issues with our home at this point is very frustrating. The workmanship and completeness of the tile is awful, many mistakes by the design center, as well as many other avoidable setbacks made this whole process very frustrating. ... Más

Poor labor!!!! The quality of the finish craftsmanship is poor. The sub contractors hired lack real finish skills, appear to lack any pride in quality of work performed and reliability. (Tile work was a 5 day task that took 13 weeks and is still needing to be redone in some areas). Paint teams have been here 3 times and will be back to redo most of the homes interior wood finishes! We are having to have all interior trim and custom add work redone for a third time, replace added ceiling beams, exterior for a third time, complete redo of paint and prep for porch, interior shower glass for a 4th time, master shower tile redone, redo all caulking (floor and crown trim). This is all post close! Our sales and builder reps are stellar! We love them (they are professional, honest and do all they can) BUT the teams used by Drees to build and finish lack a lot! It is unfortunate as we purchased based on the quality we see in the models her and in other Drees locations. We did our homework! We expect no less than the models. That is the face of Drees to the market. The homes built lack the same level of craftsmanship. Drees must find a way to resolve. Help us who have closed to find the teams needed to resolve issues faster! Hire the right teams. We spent close to 7 figures and should not have to be middle men to resolve. Our issues are being addressed, slowly, but now become a major inconvenience for us since we have moved in. Getting things fixed is taking way to long. Taking 4 to 5 weeks Getting floors fixed counter tops fixed or replaced. Floors are full of glue residue but nobody seems to care. So we have been on our hands and knees trying to clean it ourselves 1 person said aren't you going to put area carpets down anyway. Can't get hold of anyone for days. Even had electrical issues. Just want the stuff fixed is that to much to ask for in a million dollar home.

There is nothing "custom" about these homes. Worst quality work. Customer service very response but craftsmanship for a "custom" builder is 1000% missing. If they all truly care about customers, they need to visit their customers to review quality of work instead of sending surveys.. which I doubt will happen.

If it wasn’t for our amazing builder I’m not sure if we would’ve went thru with completing our home with Drees. Our builder made our experience top notch as he was responsive to issues, gave frequent updates, followed through with promises and resolved issues on time. Unfortunately, the sales team and leadership at Drees was a huge disappointment. There is a major issue going on within our community and we have not received a response from upper management that could affect our HOA dues that was not disclosed during closing. It’s been weeks with no follow up from Drees. The poor communication signals that Drees only cares about making a sale and does not care about individuals and families once they are settled in their home. ... Más
