Sales manager, Debra, was very good, helpful in many ways.

Expect the close later than planned. Design options are good and priced reasonable enough to not consider having things done by contractors later. Updates aren’t always weekly. Transition between work is not always timely. Issue resolution is sometimes quick, but not always the case. Overall not bad.

Constuction manager responsive and communicative. Workmanship, however, lacked attention to details. Painting, drywall, caulking, door alignment, window quality, and flooring installation were all below par, requiring numerous repairs/rework that are still outstanding 90 days later.

The overall experience with Drees was great. It has been 20 years since we built our last home and my expectations were high and I was probable setting myself up for a frustrating experience. Drees made the process easy every step of the way. I was very hands on during the building process and found the trades too be less than stellar. I am not sure if was related to Covid, the economic down turn or simply lack of craftsmanship. Matt (Project Manager) kept a tight lead on the trades to ensure a quality build. Matt and Amanda were the best partners to have on our side.

Overall it was extremely pleasant until the end with a variety of issues that needed to be completed prior to close, a few needed to be done two or three times to bring it to a satisfactory level. Our contractor was responsive but the business and customer support definitely was less than ideal. And the preferred lender to which Drees has equity shares/operates separately from construction was very unreliable, resulting in confusion and extreme frustration as “good to close” was definitely fluid and difficult at best. Overall it is a beautiful home and no new construction is perfect and as long as they stick to their word of addressing issues I would say they are overall a great choice in the large scale/custom home market. ... Good to work with

Garage has split wood between the cylinder blocks and drywall. Master shower downstairs Door was not closing right before we closed on the house and fixed it then and now the problem continues after 2 uses of opening and closing the door.

This is our third home we have built and we found a lot corners cut along the way . Some we caught and some we didn’t till moved in. Love our house but annoying fixes happening way to often

Response time to house repairs is too long after closing. I am still waiting for appliance repair, electrical outlet follow up, and lighting replacement months after closing. Drees is unresponsive to problems and lacks staffing to follow up on problems in a timely manner.

I would like to recognize Nick J for his responsiveness to any issues I’ve had to call about. He’s fixed them quickly and efficiently. I would also like to send a big thank you to Neil for his quick response to any indoor issues. He has been a pleasure to work with

The people you work with at the beginning and middle of the process are great. They keep you informed and help tremendously. The hardest part (but I'm sure this is true with all builders) is once you sign the papers and close, anything you think isn't good enough doesn't matter. I only say this because I'm working with the warranty team now. And they will only fix something that's broken or not working, but shotty workmanship is your problem now. But that makes sense, it's their job to make sure they don't spend all of Drees' money and they aren't obligated to fix shotty work once you close. I would say once you close, try to have the mindset that you bought a market home and not a brand new home and that it should all be perfect. ... Más

What you would come to expect in "builder basic." Basic materials and construction. However, the after sale support is top class. Especially in contrast to other big builders in our area.

Only one issue we had is when the lumber was outside during construction in winter they don't use it immediately after calling and telling them as it may get bad, I would recommend them not to leave the lumber outside too long before using,

Be ready to keep drees organized and on task. Somewhat stressful process. Love our home but a long road getting here and still open issues.

We love our Drees home and are happy and excited to be living here. The process of building a home with Drees, specifically the upfront decision making and closing, was challenging at times, but our builder and warranty team were exceptional and great to work with.

Drees builds beautiful homes. Some things are options that should be standard (i.e. overhead lights in all bedrooms). Lots are too small, can't fit a full size truck in the garage. Some items are still not fixed months after moving in.

Floor plans are the most attractive among the other builders.

... until you close. We have an incompetent warranty representative. Small things, such as caulk missing around our tub were handled in such an unprofessional manner and have yet to be truly fixed.. Major things, like drainage in our backyard swale & moisture in/around our AC, have yet to be addressed/feel as though they had zero urgency. The sales rep & construction managers we've worked with are both amazing! The build process was clear. Given the pandemic, we expected multiple delays. Everything that was impacted was clearly communicated. Our home was very well built. I wish I could give 5 stars but at this point, not happening. ... Más

Drees was very considerate to make the closing date as per my need. The building process was very transparent and received timely updates.

Disappointed that no changes could be made even tho the carpet was not in. Buyer pulled carpet and replaced it before moving in. Selections were all done “on the cheap” ...Low grade carpet, no hardware on the cabinets, no stationary tub, or rough-in for one, no window sills. Who builds a &250K+ home without these basics? LOTS of issues with high humidity. Had to purchase a dehumidifier to bring humidity levels down Because of high potential for mold. 36” Door to pantry was too deep to walk through walk-in pantry. Buyer installed a louver door after closing...which should have been done before closing. That was a BIG design flaw. The door cost less than $100, to replace and now it works as it should with full access to the pantry. That should have been done by Drees before closing. Basic construction seems okay. It was just all the other stuff that was both costly and annoying to complete after closing. That is why the less than stellar ratings were given. ... Más

Getting issues that were done poorly, incorrectly or not at all (some I realize were material b/orders) so we could move in, then takes weeks-months for resolution. Being told "We'll take care of it" needs to then be followed with a definitive "By whom and by when". There is a 60 day follow up that should be done within 2 weeks, not 2 months, for a $560K house. Time, thus closing on the house, is way more important to Drees than quality at time of possession.

The builder onsite was incredible - some shortcuts were made and the seller not able to meet us at our original offer nor actually finishing the backyard with sod

We still are not receiving mail because of not having a collection box. This was not disclosed to us and should have been resolved before we moved in. Any problem reported to Amy has been promptly handled.

Several plumbing errors as the plans were not followed and had to be revisited.
