I think the fit and finish in the home is sub par. Some stuff seems to be put together very careless. In all honestly I would consider another home builder when I buy another home in the next month or 2.

We like our home overall and the options and features that were offered. Unfortunately we’ve found many quality issues in the first couple of months that we’ve lived in the home. Many of them were things we brought up prior to moving in to our home. It has been very disruptive to our lives working through the warranty process to resolve issues and often requiring multiple attempts to resolve the issues. Many of the issues we’ve just elected to resolve ourselves because they’re things we’re capable of fixing it and we don’t trust that it’ll be done right. We have had numerous issues with the warranty work being completed, in addition to issues that have had contractors sent out needing multiple repeat visits (4-5). Eve after those repeat visits fixes still haven't been made. We have contractors showing up at out house at all random hours without notification which seems odd that they would just show up without being scheduled. However, the builder says "I didn't schedule them". The additional "supervisors" he sends to supervise the contractors don't even actually supervise or observe. There has been a huge disconnect in follow up and communication. I am very disappointed and had hoped this experience would prove better. We still continue to have constantly put in for work to be done on at least a weekly basis. Seems to me it's also a waste of money highlands part to not just get the job done right the first or second time. ... Más

We love our new home There are a lot of little things we felt were not up to highland standards. Like using higher quality light switches and having handles and pulls on cabinets. Seemed to take short cuts on little things.

I like this builders quality and efficiency

As a realtor, I have been a huge advocate for highland homes and will continue to be. Their floor plans are roomy, well designed and efficient. However, we experienced the following concerns. Your experience may differ so please take it with a grain of salt. 1) multiple construction delays and changes in construction management personnel. This may have improved in recent months. 2) strongly recommend separate property inspection. Align with the builder on what needs to be fixed before closing and make sure they do. Otherwise, You can expect to have month long delays and multiple follow ups before issues get resolved 3) do a checklist on all the change order from your design options with the construction manager. Highland Homes as builder had a good name but in the recent home buying experience I felt little bit different. The construction work took one year to complete and the work was not up to the standard. Even though after pointing out lot of issues and errors in construction it took too much time for them to correct it. The repairs which were supposed to be done prior closing was left out and I was told by the builder that it will be done asap, but it was a false promise. Even today those repairs which was supposed to be done prior closing is not done and I was told to submit a warranty claim for those repairs. I don't understand why should I submit a warranty claim when it should have been done as a part of building process. When I went to the sales office to get more info about this, I was told not to come here and I was advised to contact the person responsible for the construction about this. I send emails but no answer yet. I felt this negligence during the construction period and in many occasions I witnessed slowness. ... Más

The house is well design overall. The price was reasonable.

The staff at Highland are amazing, very trustworthy and responsive. The quality of the house is medium - I believe because they are building so many at one time, the time to ensure details (i's dotted and t's crossed) need improving. I would suggest they ensure a team at highland is conducting a thorough check before the house is released to the buyers (lots of details - paint especially was not well done, and comparing to my former custom built home in a different state - material quality is low). It is not as stressful because the staff is very responsive to ensuring 100% customer satisfaction, so that makes a big difference. ... Más

My wife and I bought this beautiful home and we are very happy. Even after being in the home for 2 months, we still find it unbelievable to be in this house. We were in the process of buying another home but our close date was extended and we weren’t happy. We looked at other options and found this gem. The house was close to being completed so we only had to wait about a month before we closed. Our walk through went well and any issues we found were minor and fixed quickly. Now that we are in the house, at this time my biggest issue is this hole in my front yard with a wire sticking out of it. I’ve addressed it several times with my POC (Sam) but nothing has been done about it. Beautiful Development and community, my protect manager Bryan has been great to work with, every week sending an email to give me updates on the progress. I love the house however I been disappointed in some of the finishing touches and the workmanship of some materials, I know eventually everything will be fixed.

After Sales service is not up to expectations by any means and i hate to record tons of claims for warranty

Materials used are great. People working at HIGHLAND are very respectful and responsive. Quality of workmanship is below average. Not sure if this is related to Pandemic labor shortage. Overall a good experience buying and closing, except workmanship is not upto the mark.

We’ve been in our new home almost two months and have had issues with getting our punch list items resolved since moving in. We have been in touch with our construction manager, and he has been responsive towards us about the fact that they are “working on it”, but at this point even items we have submitted a warranty for are going unamended. Our walkthrough was rushed because of a pushed back closing, but with the idea that a walkthrough takes place a couple weeks before closing so the punch list can be taken care of, it’s frustrating that two months after moving in we are still waiting for this punch list to be completed. We love our home, but it is still incomplete and it seems at this point that we are being given the run around so that issues will be forgotten rather than fixed. ... Más

I know that a lot of the trades have taken a turn downward as far as quality because of who is out there actually willing to work but there are somethings that I feel should have been caught and were not. Over all the quality of the home is great. We are pleased with the structure but there were somethings that we just felt didn't live up to the quality that you come to expect with a Highland Home.

In general, Highland Home’s houses are beautiful and therefore the prices are high, but the details of the house are not perfect and need to be repaired many times. They will fix for you but the time they respond to my requests is very slow. and sometimes they will not time. The house and detailing was as shown and committed. Quality of materials is good but could that little better for the prices paid. Overall a good experience in home buying

Home buying experience was fine, very easy other than the wait time which was out of their control. The quality of workmanship could be better. Builder tried to make it better and in many ways did get things fixed. A few other cosmetic issues were not fixed and it feels like you’re forced to deal with them or fix them yourself after dealing with multiple do overs.

My new home is beautiful, but it’s becoming more apparent as I live in it that the trades consistently cut corners. For now it’s mostly superficial (e.g. door knobs started coming off and bathroom grout started cracking/peeling first week) but I’m concerned that major issues are just waiting to be discovered. I know the housing market is crazy and everyone is stretched thin, but it seems pumping the brakes is a better solution than rushing and having to re-do each job. Perhaps my hopes were too high for a five-star home based on Highland’s reputation…

Home was delivered slightly ahead of schedule and at the agreed price. Project Manager (Chase M) did an outstanding job of keeping us informed of progress and responding to any issues that came up after closing. Home is well built, although some materials could be of better quality. Paint team needs some work and required numerous touch ups and cover ups. Seemed like the painters simply wanted to be in and out as soon as possible instead of doing the job correctly the first time.

Overall, we are quite happy with our new home. The sales team and construction supervisor have been easy to work with. Supply chain issues and labor availability have caused problems but those are being sorted out over time. All in all, we would recommend Highland Homes as a builder, but in today's environment it would be advisable to have a flexible move date.

I was told by that guy this is not the first home I’ve purchased, things are not going to be perfect, and I will have to learn to do some things for myself, in shock I replied, the 1st home was a short sale sold as is with expected issues, I was not expecting issues with a new house built from the ground up, I also shared with the realtor that I think all the blue tape I put up for repairs or touch ups was all pulled off with bare minimum being done

Home is high quality. Issues that were supposed to be fixed within the first 10 days after closing are still not fixed.

Tough time to build and buy a new home. High prices with limited supplies and limited laborers. Our General Contractor, Dave, did a great job working through issues and working directly with us. Hard to believe we paid such a high price for the home and that’s no one’s fault it’s just the way it is in this current market.

We love the home, but now have those nit-pickey items that need to be finished. I hope Highland responds well. So far, so good
