I purchased it recently and found the water leakage in the two-bedroom and still working on and not yet finished the work. so many defects in the home.

We should be compensated for having to manage the completion of our home, post closing. This is our third new home in four years and this is by far the worst experience. The build process, the attention to detail, the finished product upon delivery at closing was despicable. Had interest rate‘s not been rising we would have made them complete it but my gut is they’re impotent when it comes to fine detail and quality as they were known a few years ago. Three months in our kitchen is still unfinished, we are still pressing the construction team to complete items every day. We have been managing a spreadsheet of simple things. I understand that the tradesmen are a major issue but Highland should add more staff or employed directly to obtain the level of completion and detail that we expect on an $800,000 house. It is so bad in our new neighborhood that a group of Highland owners gathered in the street and talked about a class action lawsuit because of the quality, workmanship, and issues that we are finding in the property. Add to the mix all the homes under construction, the beer cans the trash, the trash, the trash and it’s obvious why our homes are not finished. When you walk a property in there are alcohol containers inside or on the outside such as our house and our neighbors house that is a clue. We feel like educated, experienced, reasonable buyers since we’ve done this with two companies over three new homes across for years. This process that is still unfinished three months after closing Has been the worst nine months in our marriage because we have argued in battles over should we stay or should we go and that continues on a daily basis and that is all due to Highland lack of attention to detail or respect for customers. We will never buy from them again and every person that I talk to I tell our experience and advise them to avoid Highland homes. I feel for their local sales reps and construction lead, the main organization should do more to help the employees serve the customer. I likened our experience to their previous manager when I said have you ever stood on the assembly line of your new dodge pick up and made sure that the corporation was putting every piece where it needed to go, every fit and finish with perfect? Do you get frustrated when you have to take your vehicle back for a recall? We have purchased something that is 14 times the value of your truck and yet on a daily basis we are having to manage the construction and completion of this home and you would never go for that for your new pick up. Overall a horrible experience, and I don’t get angry as I look at my kitchen countertop that is still incomplete, missing molding, while I make coffee Everywhere in this house to include barn doors that are 2 inches too small for the opening is a reminder that unless we argue, push, fight for what we paid for Island homes will do their best to take advantage of us. ... Worst customer service evern I have seen in my life

I was so excited to have my family's home built by Highland, but the experience just got worse and worse as time passed. About 8 months into build, Highland moved the construction manager working on our home to another site and that's when everything went downhill. The new manager was not responsive to my concerns. Especially in regard to green paint being spilled and splattered all over the first floor of the home. I noticed it the week it happened and reported ASAP. It still sat for months, going ignored; it just seemed really disrespectful to the fact that this was going to be our home and they didn't care to clean it up. I understand accidents happen on construction sites, but it was as if someone took a gallon bucket of paint and threw it from across the room, at the back kitchen wall. To this day, (three months post move-in), we are still finding green paint stains in the wood flooring and on cabinets. In addition to the home completing more than 3 months late, everything wasn't completed by closing; in fact, Highland wanted to push closing because they weren't ready. The house had major issues upon closing and we had to add an addendum to the contract that held Highland responsible for finishing the items they weren't able to, before closing. In addition to this, two-weeks after closing, we had a major flood in the bathroom, which lead us to discover a leak that had been ongoing since before we took possession of the house. This lead to two-weeks of major construction of my octogenarian grandparents' portion of the home. It completely destroyed the floors, walls, etc. While Highland was responsive to the issue, they did not go above and beyond to reconcile this issue that was due to their negligence. There is blue board missing behind tile and it has already sunk-in; we continue to have issues with the irrigation leaking, although we've asked for it to be addressed several times. Worst buying home experience ever. Quality of home is horrendous

Bad paint job. Paint/stains all over floors and doors. Garage concrete is completely stained and chipped. Construction did not follow design and preconstruction design notes. Floors lifted by trim. Doors don't close right. Drawers slides are not smooth. I think my expectations were to high choosing Highland, should of known something was off when the sales rep took us to tour a house and they couldn't believe how much trash there was. I do believe more supervision should be done over the construction crew not only in design but in constructability.

Work was very rushed. Very disappointed with the purchase. I'm still dealing with issues on repairs to be completed that should have been done before forcing me to close just to make a year end number. Worst experience I've had ever buying a new home.

To mention a few issues, The home was not ready to be delivered on the day of close with construction taking place the day off closing, tile pieces and dust all over master bathroom, supplies left throughout the home, and countless issues to follow. The home is still not complete 2 months post closing.

I closed on my home on 12/27/2021. The condition of the home when I received it should not be something Highland is proud of. The carpet was not completed. There was an entire closet that wasn't carpeted, the carpet on the stairs was loose, and carpet was sticking up in several corners. I received the wrong stove and I am still waiting for the correct one. My bathrooms are still missing mirrors and the master bath does not have the shower door, vanity lights, or the glass to separate the shower and bathtub. I have closets that don't have the rods to hang clothes. I have paint on railings and paint isn't complete. The little square pieces at the bottom of the railing are all loose. The sprinkler system does not work properly. We have not received our chandelier yet but the unfinished home next door has their's. Also, the unfinished home next door seems farther along than my home. I just think it's crazy that the house was turned over in the condition it was in. The back yard was a mess and there was urine on a toilet seat. Just didn't seem much pride or priority was taken in building my home. We aren't a priority. Also, why isn't there insulation in the interior walls? The toilet in the master bathroom sits right against the living room wall and you can hear everything. As first time home buyers we entrusted Highland to build our dream home and Highland has failed us. Highland hasn't reached out in an attempt to right the wrongs. It's been a miserable experience. I was very surprised at the rudeness of building construction mgr. Shane H. The house slab not level, roof has studs pushing shingles in a lot of roof areas, kitchen cabinets color miss match and drawers get stuck, windows not square floor molding not level and open in lots of areas, washing machine room has missing tile, front entry slab not level (during rain entry flooded)all this after only one month in house. I love bigger house but not poor workmanship. High priced but over all poor workmanship and management of build. I now feel like a number not personal person homeowner. A lot of these items were on closing construction mgr. followup list . I closed on house and now I do not exist but a low number on priority. I felt disrespected by Shane G. at closing. ... Más

DO NOT BUY A Highland Home. Highland homes built us a shoddy substandard house. We have been filing warranty claims several times a week since we moved in due to all sorts of problems. We closed almost two months ago and still can’t use our kitchen cabinets. We paid for so many upgrades, not only were the materials cheap but the labor/install were shoddy, sloppy, careless, just outright unprofessional. The builder told us this is how it is in San Antonio. They will never be as good as the Dallas area. We should lower our standards/expectations. How comforting! We bought brand new homes before from other builders and remodeled a couple of homes. We never seen such shoddy substandard work ever. Even my husband's DIYs are better. The trades here are an embarrassment to the industry. They have no shame in building crappy houses. ZERO standards. The so-called professional painters don't use blue tape and tilers don't use spacers. Our kitchen backsplash looks awful and our cabinets are not usable. The shelves are cut too short and several of them started peeling before we even moved in. Scratches and dents everywhere on countertop, doors, trims, appliances, and messy paint jobs. You do not get what you pay for. If you want to be disappointed and deal with incompetent workers on a weekly basis, then buy a Highland Home. ... Más

Wish our house was built like others. We have major aesthetic brick issues that lingered for months (may to sept) and the construction manager kept on saying it’ll get fixed l. At the 11th hour before closing got rid of all the excess mortar all over our house and ruined the front of the house with excess acid wash. We were put in a hard place bc we had to be out of our old house. The brick is so horrible, and we put eves lights and u can see a wave in all our brick in the front. I would say they are responsive on warranty request, but our house didn’t get the highland quality we thought we were getting and the brick work was the worst I’ve ever seen. ... Más

Did not follow through on work or promises. Awful work ethic, many mistakes were made and not fixed. Poor work quality, things were left out and messy, extremely unprofessional.

DO NOT buy Highland. I've built 5 homes (KB, Eagle Valley, Meritage, Chesmar, and Highland). Highland Construction/Sales Management Team at Fronterra at WestPointe is by far the worst one. They will not correct poor workmanship unless asked by customer, then will try to convince customer work is within tolerances. Warranty work is nonexistent. Communication is nonexistent. Follow up is nonexistent. Will blatantly lie. I DO NOT recommend purchasing a Highland Home.

Worst buying experience ever. Many many issues with the house once we moved in. Plenty of excuses, broken breaker, air condition was hooked up wrong, drier connector was broken. Maintenance men didn’t show up twice on two separate occasions. Just a mess

The subcontractors were abysmal. The sheetrock seams are horrible. The "finish" work on the trim looks like a child put it in. The concrete in the driveway, garage and patio are pitted, gouged, and have boot prints in them. As I write this, the master closet ceiling and upstairs bathroom vanity are torn out as water is leaking through the ceiling. The absence of professionalism even extended to unhuman behavior such as urinating in the shower to the point where the smell prevented us from going into the house, and there was even feces rubbed on the painted wall in the bedroom upstairs. As first time home buyers we had an awful experience with Highland Homes Sales Team. Very poor customer service. Both Andrew and CeCe are very untrustworthy and very dishonest. True “Salesman”

We did not have a good experience with sales or project manager. Highland lacks attention to detail. People working on your house don’t even have access to the plans.

I closed on my home in March and builder still has not completed my master bath. Upgrades that were paid for were never installed. Untrustworthy project managers! I had my home inspected before closing and manager said he fixed problems and never did! I’ve had to put in so many warranty requests, I’ve lost count! My husband and I rearrange our schedules to accommodate them and they are constant no call, no show. We are contacting our attorney. Enough is enough! We paid so much money for this house. They are so unprofessional! We should have gone with Trendmaker. I wish I could post pics to this review! ... Más

Bad quality work no Finishing in work lot of dump in sheetrock ,rough painting in cabinet look cheap

This builder has condescending sales staff ( once you’ve paid) and poor follow up on repair issues

Terrible experience overall. I will say, Mike with the mortgage company needs a mask and cape because he was superman. Tyler, our second Builder has done her absolute level best to correct issues we had so I would rate her 5 stars. If you end up with Eric as your builder, cancel and walk away. He doesn't care at all. He is extremely unprofessional, including having trades eating and sleeping in my home during our scheduled meeting which he was late to. You will not get a quality home if he builds it, request Tyler, she is hands and feet above him in treatment and physicall quality.

The sales rep was untrustworthy and the builder still has not completed our house after he said he would finish everything up the week after closing. It has been three months and we still have blue tape in our house.

The CHEAPEST labor and materials are used but they Charge you a premium. They gave us an incomplete home stating everything would be done prior to close. Instead they rely on the warranty and that takes months to complete. So instead of enjoying a new home, you are dealing with the incompetency of the builders and the terrible contractors they use for months on end. Joseph and Giovanni give you a ton of attitude if you point things out that are done with poor quality, not done at all or done incorrectly. I could keep going but won’t. Bottom line...STAY AWAY!

Terrible experience with builder. House was not 100% completed. Warranty feels like I'm asking I'm begging. Would not recommend
