Our house has cracks on walls and garage and they continue to extend. We did call it out prior to closing and some of them were addressed. Probably put paint over the cracks. Kitchen cabinets were painted poorly. I requested a few to be redone prior to closing. It was somewhat fixed but overrall cabinets quality especially in the kitchen l would rate 1 star .Concrete in the garage lots of cracks and we were told thats normal unless l can put a coin in the cracks, thats when its considered to be addressed Service and responsiveness was great but the quality not so good

Sales co-ordination was great. Construction timelines and updated were perfect to begin with. Halfway thru, I had to check on the progress almost every week and point out issues. Final walk was rushed enough, hours before closing and with pending works. We moved into our house end of June 2022 and still dealing with issues, which should have never occurred or should have been fixed by construction manager well before closing. After moving in, I got to know almost half the workmen team to fix issues. To name a few - cabinets, counter tops, doors/trims, sheetrock, vent team, electrical, appliances and painters. Low grade craftsmenship especially to the exterior fof the house. Brick and motar poorly done.

We had an below average experience. Although it was mostly due to our real estate agent who did not have our best interest in mind, we also had issues with the sales counselor Kevin. He lied many times and spoke rudely to us saying we were not listening. The builder as well is okay. Things were not getting done right in the first place and had to be asked several times to be fixed. it was all mostly a lack of communication and provided us with below average experience.

This is the second home qe have moved into and by far the worst experience the project manager and the sales person qere very responsive but the the work of the contractor is very poor. To this day they have not finished fro. Touch ups to the mistakes they made. At this point ill fix it myself. Just bad

Landscape is very poor( yard is a pond) overpriced house before closing 562K after 1 month after closing the real price is 524k how was that? After closing the construction manager will no longer be contacted for help.

Experience was good throughout the 7 months build process. Our builder tony was amazing throughout the process. Things that could have been done better is all the cabinets they are poor in quality and work done by cabinet company when we moved in they had scratches dirt marks that are not removable. Quality is poor. Paint job is poor quality as well. For half a million home definitely not great. There are lot of things that could be done better for highlands reputation

We bought several Highland homes before this one and the experience was and still Fantastic. The experience with this home doesn’t feel like you can brand this home as a Highland home . NO WAY . The sad part , everyone blame Coronavirus . This doesn’t justify poor workmanship and poor customer service . It simply doesn’t feel like Highland Brand .

We bought a spec home already under construction so we were not allowed to go to the design center, which didn’t give us options for add-ons such as blinds, adding exterior lighting etc. We were not told that the standard paint was flat, nor were we given the option to “upgrade” the paint. Flat paint is the worst! Our appraisal came in $33,716 UNDER list price and we were told they would not negotiate it and we were stuck since we had already sold our previous home. We have had so many issues and have had the contractors in and out more than a handful of times. Have only lived here for 2 months and have already submitted multiple warranty claims for various things, which go unresponded to, until we follow up on them ourselves (the 7 day to respond clearly is false). Finally, the kitchen. I don’t know what to say. We are currently waiting on nearly every door and drawer to be replaced as they are all damaged, dinged, scratched, or the paint is peeling off. I’m not sure who was responsible for quality control / visual inspection on our home, prior to our ownership, but they take zero pride in their work, and it shows in everything overlooked! ... Más

i dont think there is a square wall in this house. We previously had a home custom built and buying from a big box builder has lived up to their build fast and not accurate reputation. the sheetrock is crumbly, the paint falls off the wall if you touch it, the door paint has runs in it. We've had the electrician out three times. The person that we contact if something is wrong, has been fabulous. It's just when you pay close to half a million dollars for a home, you expect it to be top notch not sloppy.

Highland's system to keep track of changes is antiquated and makes it very difficult to keep track of things. It's so bad that even the builder themselves miss things that you order and/or changes you make. It took Highland over two months to give me a final price on our home. Highland has some really great floorplans and they use the square footage well. However, the fit and finish is very poor. Every door jam is full of gouges, paint drips on painted cabinets and baseboards, missing caulk between baseboards and floors in random rooms/areas, paint drips on floor, missed painting spots on doors, flaking paint on doors, missing seals on garage doors, uneven/missing wall texture, barcodes showing through on the edges of wall tile, dirty floors with sticky substance throughout (tile & wood). Overall impression is very poor/sloppy craftsmanship. Most of the items listed above were noted during pre-close walkthrough. Most items were not fixed before closing. Even after closing contractors come to the house and state they are here to fix painting, but they have no idea what painting they are supposed to fix. We've been in our home for two months and we have once again blue-tapped the house and wait for someone to show up... Whoever Highland has that cleans the homes prior to moving in should be fired. Dirty floors behind almost every door, dirt/construction dust on the top of every high surface, filthy windows. While we love our neighborhood, our floor plan, and our selections we very disappointed in the execution of how these selections were installed. ... Más

Experience started out great with a lot of support, but ended up falling short at the end. When I moved in my breaker to washer and dryer was broken, My AC wiring was not connected, and my heat was not turned on. With a new baby this was difficult and felt these things should have been caught.

Very disappointed with the quality of the house.

They left me incomplete things at home and it's been going on for 3 months and they don't solve me.

Disappointed in my home. Things are breaking, caulk is already lifted, door knobs are coming up. Overall the price I paid for this home was not worth it.

Overall we're very happy with this home.. It's beautiful. The construction seems very well done. The neighborhood is great. Highland has been very responsive with any questions or concerns during both the build process and post-closing. However, the value of the upgrades is somewhat questionable when considered against what you pay for them. This is mainly due to what is very evidently rushed install and finish work by the subcontractors they use. Poorly run caulking beads. Chipped/scratched glass. Improperly cut trim. Unfinished cabinetry that was simply overlooked. Wiring that trips a breaker when you plug a single phone charger in. In a word - sloppy. Small things, to be sure, but many of them. If you have the time to be at the site consistently inspecting the work as it happens then I'm sure a lot of this would have been caught during the process. Not the case for us. Regardless this seems like quality control the builder may wish to own as a matter of course. Again, Highland is great about making it right. It's just frustrating that an expensive master bath upgrade has caulking that looks like I did it myself. ... Más

Small door widths - 24" on many... not enough options at the design center. Sometimes - none at all on some options. Check the design center numbers - I found they overcharged me almost $30,000 - which they did correct. Pricing is crazy - for instance - getting door pulls (handles) - you buy by the room not per pull. Some rooms - the pulls were $30 each, other rooms - $90 each. No mud room - just walls. When I asked them the price to add a simple bench... $5,000! They also fail to tell you the price to actually finish the kitchen - cabinets will be extra - and then painting etc. Most builder include that in the original pricing. $5,000 for a tub that only costs $900. With that said - the Sales Counselor Adam - great! Very helpful and professional. The project Manager Orlando - great as well - always available and great with return calls and texts. Highland Homes need to look at the limited selections at the design center. They need to have more than 1-2 options on kitchen appliances, including choosing a different manufacturer. Need options on different doors than the ones builders stop using a decade ago. LED Disc lights!? Thos have to go. If your light burns out - you have to replace the whole receptacle - upwards of $30-$40. When management heard about the pulls and mud room, they made some accommodations for me. So - I would recommend Highland - but with only a few easy tweaks - they could be 10 out of 10. I love the home - but get ticked every time I walk into a bathroom and bump my shoulders on the 24" doors... ... Más

We purchased an inventory home from Highland that was about 95% complete when we went under contract. With a 30-day closing, there wasn’t much time between completion and move-in. We only met with the builder once prior to the final walk-through, which took place just a few hours before closing. During that walk, I identified several issues that needed correction before closing. Unfortunately, after closing, most of those items still hadn’t been completed. I had to take additional time off work on multiple occasions to have those items addressed. That said, the overall **quality of the home itself is excellent**, and I would still **highly recommend Highland for their craftsmanship and product quality**. However, the **builder and sales team’s communication and follow-up could definitely be improved**. We also had a disappointing experience with our sales representative. After our loan approval, we never heard from her again—no updates, no congratulations, not even a message on closing day. She wasn’t available to hand us our keys, so we had to pick them up from someone we’d never met at the model home. We’ve even seen her since, showing nearby homes, but she still hasn’t acknowledged us. In summary, we love our new home and the quality Highland delivers, but the customer service experience fell short. ... Más

Since moving into our home, our experience has been wonderful. Zach is very responsive to any issues that have come up. However, we almost did not go through with our purchase due to major issues/miscommunication with the loan officers. I honestly don't have the energy to type everything out here. It was way more stressful than it had to be due to errors and lack of communication/explanation.

Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 5 The construction experience was excellent, and Ray has been consistently helpful throughout the process. However, our experience with the Sales team left much to be desired. We encountered a situation that required escalation to the sales managers, which involved multiple follow-ups and several hours of our time to resolve. Near the end of the process, we were unexpectedly told to finalize the loan rate within the same day. We received a text message at 2 PM stating that the rate had to be locked in by 5 PM. The message felt aggressive, implying that failure to meet the deadline would result in penalties and a delayed closing date. This kind of communication felt more like a threat than a professional interaction and was not something we expected from a reputed builder like Highland. There was no prior notice about needing to finalize the rate that day, which added unnecessary stress to an already time-sensitive matter. Did not enjoy my experience with sales at all. Kathi and her team did not make this a great experience. There were times where I’d call or walk in and they’d ask me my name even though I had been under contract for three months!!! There are also way to many points of contact, I was getting emails and calls from 4 different sales people throughout our build. Pricing for upgrades is outrageous and included features could be better. As someone who works in the industry and has sold semi custom homes, I was even shocked when we went to design. Some of the prices were so high our designer didn’t even want to give them to us. Our builder Geoffrey on the other hand was amazing! He had good follow up and follow through. Whenever we had a question he would either have an answer or get one for us. Highly recommend him, he was personable & thorough. Of course there were delays and things didn’t always go as planned, but he made sure to communicate and resolve the issues in a timely manner. Builder (Jack) was awesome! Attentive, helpful, informative. Couldn’t have asked for a better partner in building our home. Sales and design teams very helpful, responsive and attentive. Unfortunately the quality of materials and trades leaves something to be desired. We’ve had electrical issues since we moved in which still aren’t resolved after multiple attempted repair visits. Issue with doors (warped?, multiple broken hinges). HVAC design issues (bedrooms are cooler by 2-3 deg even after return visit by HVAC installer); curious what the temp differences will be in summer time vs. winter.

The only issue we have with our house is the back fence. It makes us feel like we are prisoners. We were never told that the fence would be 8 feet tall. We have one of the smaller backyards in the track so the back yard is only 5 feet from the patio.We wish that it could be taken down 1 foot so we can at least see something other than a fence.
