We are first time homeowners and we trusted Highland Homes for our first house but unfortunately it hasn’t been a good experience. We have been living in our new house for a little over 2 months and we have had people working here pretty much every week fixing things that were just poorly done. We pointed out those things on the blue tape walk through but they were not fixed so we had to go trough a lot of trouble to finally get them fixed. So far we have had 1 shower redone, the whole backyard redone, door frames, door hardware and we are still waiting for our curved island quartz to be replaced, floor tiles to be fixed because of the poor installation and the kitchen cabinet doors to be replaced as well. The quality of houses that HH is selling at least in this neighborhood is very very low and we just wish someone could have told us before buying from them. ... Más

Dear Highland Home, I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the quality of the home I purchased and the customer service I have received since moving in. I have experienced several quality issues, including: • Loose doorknobs (multiple times) • A bathtub with scratches and dents (the builder representative accused me of being picky and said they didn't think they could meet my expectations) • A broken faucet handle • Walkway cement with footsteps on top (the builder representative argued with me for 15 minutes about why I didn't bring this issue up during the walk-through) Master bath with water leaks through glass • A busted fence (the builder representative refused to take accountability for this damage, which was caused by the next-door builder) I purchased a Highland Home specifically because of your reputation for quality. However, the customer service I have received post-sale has been contentious and unhelpful. I have been met with pushback at every step of the way. I am requesting that you immediately address the quality issues with my home and provide me with the level of customer service that I expect from a company with your reputation ... Más

Highland Homes has been taking too long fixing things around the house under warranty. Some items were detected before closing and few months later we are still waiting for these items to be fixed. Builder’s grade quality items and attention to detail is almost none. Highland homes says they contact the owner within 48 hours to fix warranty claims, it has been months, with both phone calls and emails, we are still waiting.

The worst experience, that I ever had in terms of home buying. We are still waiting on things that need to be completed. I will never recommend anyone else. Poor crafmanship, late response time, and many more issues .

Long list of repairs needed and not a single 1 started 2 months after first reported issue. Poor workmanship with repairs needed for nearly aspect of the build (windows, floor, fixtures, paint, rails, plumbing, etc)

Our buying experience started off great. The sales rep was responsive and helpful. After we signed the paperwork and design appointment were completed the service started declining. Although the construction manager reported updates almost weekly, we had questions and small changes that were treated as huge inconveniences. Our construction timeline ended right around the original projected date, but when we went through the walk through we were given instructions not to complete the full checklist as “it wasn’t necessary”. While the construction and foundational work seems sound, the finishings were, for lack of a better word, sloppy. Many corners of the walls were not completely painted, there were many spots on the baseboards where large areas of damage that were just painted over, almost every single window opening is very uneven (so much so that the person who measured for blinds commented several times), paint is messy in the powder room, there was paint overspray all over the floors, the caulking all throughout the house looks like it was done by a 5 year old, almost all of our fixtures were not level, the paint was peeling on most of the door hinges, the door to the garage had the wrong type of stopper installed so it broke the first day we moved in and damaged the wall, and there was a piece of the flooring that wasn’t completely attached. Of all of these items, the only one that has been mostly addressed was changing out the stopper on the door, although the damage on the door was simply painted over. I would say start away from Highland. They claim to be premium builder but don’t know how to address their customers. It’s been 2months after closing but the builder failed to give what they promised in the contract. I am frustrated after multiple folllow ups.

The buying process was great from the sales (Angela) to buying (Mattew). But quality of material, workmanship, trustworthy and price is just bad in every way shape and form. I won’t recommend anyone for this price, we deserved better. A lot of defects and all around inexperienced people were involved in the construction from start to finish. Just BAD.

I moved in couple of months back and till now I am experiencing issues . My home is still in 50 percent construction zone . I have to fight for things to be fixed . Bad drive way , patio concrete all messed up , lot of finishing issues , had a terrible experience. I wish I got my money back ,

Very poor quality of material used for construction for a 640k home

It took about a year to build my home. There were several set backs. My final walk through I noted a long list of incomplete items. The trim was not painted or caulked. A door was not painted, no door knob. The front door was not installed, the cabinets needed replaced, paint on brick, outside light fixture needed replaced, pendent lights needed install, paint on flooring, caulking on brick, etc. it has now been 2 months since closing and these have not been addressed. I have put in more warranty request that haven’t been addressed as well. I was told that the contractor has 6 closing in June then he will start working on his other houses. My house should be priority. I already paid for it and it’s incomplete. I’m very dissatisfied with Highland homes and their craftsmanship, and work ethic. ... Más

Due to the excessive time wasting that we have experienced during this process I am not inclined to be as detailed but I write this in hope that these issues will be addressed and taken care of expeditiously. I plan to reach out to those in leadership positions to resolve all of my concerns without escalation to litigation. We are extremely disappointed with the warranty processes and have experienced so many inconveniences and POOR quality of work. The contractors have verbally shared that they are NOT doing their best work because HIGHLAND has not compensated them fairly; this is unprofessional and unacceptable and WE should not have to suffer due to their discontentment . ... We contracted on our home in October 2020 and did not close until February 2022. There were many delays from our foundation being poured incorrectly that halted the progress on our home. We paid a premium up charge for painted brick only to have crooked unlevel bricks installed throughout the exterior. We had upgraded carpet that was installed prior to the finish out of the home that was not protected and allowed workers to walk throughout home leaving muddy boot prints. Our closing date changed 11 times from September 2021. We had 5 closing date changes in January 2022 alone. The day we closed on the home there was trash all throughout the yard and had to ask multiple times to have it cleaned up. We are still finding nails and razors in our yard. We closed with about 20 items incomplete on our affidavit and are still waiting to have the last remaining items remedied almost 3 months later. Our warranty list of items after move in is quite long from improperly installed frameless shower to damaged doors. The builder seems to be dragging their feet with most of these items and we have not received the quality and service you would expect from a builder when you purchase a 600k plus home with what is supposed to be a premium builder that prides themselves over customer service. ... Cheap quality product used. Unfinished work every where.

The sales rep at Highland Homes was mediocre. Once I signed the contract I never heard from him again. I closed on November 26, and I was just given the information to set up my key pad and alarm system on 1/27/25 from the builder. Shane and the warranty department was great and fixed my issues in a timely manner. I work for a builder and was honestly appalled at the service, considering the great reputation of Highland Homes. The reason why I bought this home honestly is because of the community, my lender Reggie and the house was designed to my liking. I love my home, but the process was very poorly done. I had to get VP involved and once she was involved, things went very smoothly.

Building time took longer than expected due to mistakes, such as not ordering the correct MTL, delays with getting contractors to do work, and a tremendous amount of required fixes/redo's during the build process. Subcontractors had to constantly come back to fix things that should have been done right the first time. Appears subcontractors just want to get the job done quickly so they can go to next job. Overall workmanship was poor. This is not the project manager's fault. Put them in a difficult position. And not impressed with selection of materials, for instance cabinets are cheap. Had soft closed cabinets installed and the slides are cheap and not smooth. Highland has fixed many times and the final answer is that is the way they are. Had these before, and never had this problem. So, overall, not impressed with Highland when it comes to materials and how this house was built. The people, sales dept, project manager, tried and worked hard to satisfy us. I tried to have double rod added to master bedroom. Would not do it. And don't like that no bathroom door in house is more than 24" wide. Tried to extend back patio that was within boundaries, would not do. I could go on and on.... Some things they do don't make sense, that would be low cost and be better for owner. Now, I have to pay extra to have these things done that would have been lower cost to do during the build. ... The quality is not there~ broken sinks, shower door Leakes, toilet leaked but was fixed, missing paint on walls paid over 1 million. not impressed.

I was offered no sit down meeting with Construction Mgr to identify specific requests. Construction Mgr clearly didn't stay on top of workers. It was a lot of measure 1x, cut 3 or 4 times, increasing time and reducing quality. Had to force replacement of roof. BSG is the worst sub contractor, don't let them touch your house, they filled mine with holes because of poor communication with construction mgr and they also did shoddy work. Get a 3rd party. Exterior vents were taped on and open to pests. Ensure you get a 3rd party inspector for all aspects of the house prior to closing so they catch all boo boos. For the price, a lot of what is installed, if you didn't upgrade is low quality, the shingles especially. The appliances are wonderful. You really have to watch these folks, they'll try to get away with anything they can. I had less stress with Meritage and paid half as much. I guess I paid for the neighborhood. Construction Mgr promised to address punch list items within 90 days of closing; he never returned. He left the community, when I reached out he said submit it under warranty. Warranty responded quickly on 2 items, but their contractors are hit and miss. Not impressed. ... Más

It was one day short of a year from contract to closing. Many items were not completed at closing but I was in a bind. Nearly two months after closing most items are finally complete except for one item. After many promised appointments to complete that one I am still waiting.

Overall not happy, 8 miserable months.

Today is a good example ( almost 7 weeks after we closed) the doorknobs we paid for were not installed. Instead, we received the "standard" doorknobs. We were told that they'd be here today around 8:30 am and it is now 12:15 pm and no one has yet come. This has happened too many times to count! Love our salesman and the head of the building department but they are not keeping after some of their workers or vendors!
