Bought our townhome, Payed almost 500k. Closing day had multiple mechanical problems. Since moving in, we have been living in a third world country slum. Trash and uneaten food everywhere in yards and on the street. Driveway and ally constantly blocked making us miss appointments/ meetings. Music is blasting at 7 am even on weekends. Nails in tires several times. Have complained multiple times to managers who give a token gesture but things are back to terrible the next day. Since our purchase, we are obviously not a priority to the managers here over the townhomes in Bridgeland. Do yourself a favor and dont buy a townhome from Highland Homes until the entire community is complete. ... Más

I have had a very poor experience with highland home buying process. I was very considerate given my home build process was during Covid time. The build got delayed multiple times. I was never informed about any delays unless I enquired constantly. Lastly, 4 days before closing, after I checked everything is on track, I was told they cant close due to some delays. I had to move to temporary accommodation and finally they agreed to close on home without completing all the items. Sales associate did not have any updates regarding the build and wanted me to provide lender details even without having a closing date. Regarding the build, overall construction quality was good but the options chosen at design center when unavailable, without my consent, something else was used to replace. We had a HORRIBLE experience through the build. This was our second Highland home, and while we are happy with the quality, the attention to detail and responsiveness of the supervisor was horrendous. We were told we would have weekly phone calls for updates and had 3 phone calls over 4 months. Items would be noted to be repaired/amended and then would be completely disregarded. Even 2 months after moving in, there have been several items that were noted multiple times through the building process that have not been fixed. Overall, I would rate Highland's processes poor and this will be our last home purchased/built via them. ... Más

Terrible experience- builder was not responsive and not forthcoming on issues. First building experience and it was awful. Love the house, hated the process.

Prior to buying the house we had extensively communicated that it was very important to my wife that the two oven system in the kitchen be changed to one oven system so that the microwave could be lowered and be of use to her. We were promised support in this regard but unfortunately that promise was not in the contract. The undeniable fact is that after spending near $700K and 50 days post closing I have an unhappy wife with the promised support for modification not done. I will never ever recommend Highland Homes to my contacts.

Beware, if you get a deal when it comes to pricing. They will treat you like your dud something wrong it 12 months for my house was ready for move in and its still not complete

The actual buying, and designing was pretty good. The build process was an absolute nightmare; builder communication was horrible if it occurred at all. The issue was not a lack of materials, it was over sights of the design of the home, not following the blue prints. Over all I would not recommend Highland, if I had to do it again I would of chosen a different builder.

great value however terrible service from builder we were assigned to. certainly did not uphold the Highland Homes reputation of professionalism and quality.

It’s my fault that I was in rush buying a home and therefore I end up buying a home with many faults. Jonathon ( manager) is a great guy and very helpful every situation but the house itself has many defects such as pendent lights, back porch concrete, interior walls r not straight , kitchen sink , breakers r Turing off itself quite often and many more. They replaced my pendent lights at least 5 times but still couldn’t get it right and I was lied about the situation. Basically, after third party doing a job , there was no one from Highland to inspect the job quality. I am thinking to buy another home and most likely not from Highland. ... Más

We had numerous issues with Highland. Early on in the build, our 1st Superintendent went out on leave for 3 months and we were never notified. The absence of a Superintendent led to major delays of scheduling and no quality control oversight of the work being done. Because nobody was in charge of the build I hired an independent inspector, pre sheet rock, that identified 50+ items that needed to be corrected. Highland did make good correcting the identified items, but at the cost of significant delays. We also had a bad experience with our 2nd Superintendent. He lacked in communication, professionalism, and honesty. He provided no oversight while work was being done, which led to constant rework and delays. Our 2nd independent inspection identified 40+ items Highland corrected. Over the course of the build we were given 5 different close dates that resulted in a 3 month delay from our original close date. After we moved in a Highland representative stopped by the house as a follow up. I gave him a list of 6 items that needed to be corrected. It took 4 weeks for Highland to schedule the electrician to come out to my house. I have my door scheduled next week to be looked at, but I have not heard anything else on the remaining items. Buying a Highland Home was painful. Through my realtor I expressed my concerns to highlands leadership team, but I was never contacted by anyone other than a supervisor. ... Más

I've had experience with production and custom builders in the past and Highland rates as low as possible.

Responsiveness to work orders is poor.

Muy decepcionado. Me animaron a comprar una casa en las Highlands por la calidad y la reputación de su mano de obra, pero esto no es lo que he experimentado. La calidad de los productos utilizados es de un material de muy baja calidad, la moldura de madera de la casa tiene imperfecciones, nudos y protuberancias muy notorias y es muy áspera provocando que la pintura se desprenda constantemente. Realmente esto es un insulto para mi inteligencia, me han instalado pisos de baldosas y madera en mis casas anteriores y no se veía así, hay productos para prevenir esto cuando se hace correctamente. El cielo raso y las paredes muestran mal los defectos los techos tienen ondas esto se produce cuando la placa de roca no se hace correctamente. Se han solucionado muchos problemas, como uno de los muchos trabajos de baldosas que se rompieron en la instalación, donde simplemente se colocaron lechada entre las rupturas en lugar de reemplazarlos. El trabajo de concreto en la entrada principal y en el patio es terrible, la entrada fue restaurada dos veces pero todavía se ve horrible, así que con todo esto ahora me preocupo por la integridad de la losa. Cuando fui a limpiar las ventanas, encontré dos moscas que estaban allí cuando pintaron y simplemente pintaron sobre la parte superior de las moscas. Claramente, los contratistas que utilizan también son de bajo nivel y, obviamente, no les importa y nadie de Highland se preocupa ni supervisa a estos contratistas. We have been in our home for less than half a year. We have had to chase our builder down to fix the mistakes they made/left - prior to moving in, we had an inspector come out to our home. We were informed that all items on the inspection report had been addressed. I made the mistake of trusting highland homes. It has been about 5 months and we are still dealing with issues in this home. I wish we never purchased this home.

Low quality materials and not clear plan picture manager doesn't know details about plan hights and all, felt very bad experience after spending 500k, nobody comes for proper service after moving and payment completed

They do not respond to customer complaints! My house had several issues, plumbing( leaking pipes, grout cracks in shower, and around primary tub, they damaged my guest tub and tried to patch it up thinking that I would not notice. Drywall unleveled through out the house, driveway damaged, gate handle bent, kitchen cabinet under stove does not open. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets damaged!!! Several windows damaged, sensors fell off the windows. I could go on but I am so frustrated. All of this is as before I closed. They were supposed to fix the items. Kept getting the run around from the project manager!!! Lies basically!!! We will take care of it. Set up a several dates for availability and no response! Only when they want to be available? The is no miscommunication, just lack of accountability from the builder. Yesterday my family member was at the house all day and only the grout guy showed up. The cabinet, paint, tub guy to fix the tub…concrete guy for the driveway. It’s been two months. I just made the first payment on a lemon! I have made several complaints. I bought new home from Highland. I got new home inspection which revealed to many issues. One cracked living room window, 3 heat resistance destroyed living room windows because of Argon gas loss. Every tone of black with Kitchen cabinets, non-working drawers, chips etc. Not polished properly kitchen countertop. No proper slope for garden and all rain water sits in the center of it. Non-working vents on bathroom. Very noisy fan hood in kitchen. Very noisy refrigerator. Cracking garage door which inside white outside dark grey, painted by Highland which causes blown fuse to many times. Garage door technician came and told me because of Highland painted the outside of garage door instead of ordering them on the correct color, paint sticks between parts and he removed some of the paint. Now I can see white lines between dark grey plates from outside. Some of these problem was fixed but I still have cracking garage door problem and noisy vent hood problem although I followed Highland team to many times. I am not sure how the home builder which is known one of the best of country provides so low quality control in their product before delivering to customer. Bought a move-in ready home and remote closing (lived out of state). Have a few issues in the home and the construction manager (CM) is not responsive. For example, the screws on the garage door lever/arm fall apart (Yes, in a brand new house!!) and the lever got disengaged from the rails. CM didn't take it seriously for quality of the product that was delivered and he refused to cover it under warranty. Moved-in late January and still some of the issues in the house have not been fixed. Not a great expereince and we couldn't justify the premium paid to purchase a home from Highland!!

Such a shame. Our first home in Texas was a Highland Home so when we decided to downsize to a townhome we purchased a Highland Home. This was a disastrous mistake!!! Everything from the salesperson to building team has been negative. I do not want to ramble on an on because I definitely could with all of bad experiences. I will just say this. The materials and the craftsmanship are TERRIBLE. Its a battle to fix these things and I don't think it will ever be as it should be. I'm very sorry we closed on this townhome. We should have not moved forward and lost our deposit.

I wish I had good things to say about my home. I was incredibly invested, spent quite literally hundreds of hours doing research, reading contracts, working with my builder on the home, and trying to build relationships with the Highland team. I've never felt like my partner in any project put forward so little effort as Highland did across the board. I was talked down to by my sales person, ignored by my design center specialist, and lied to by my construction manager. On top of all of that, once I left reviews and messages for management, I never got a call back to address any concerns I had. What a waste of money and time, I would never recommend Highland to anyone. ... Más

From my experience (first and the LAST) with Highland homes is that they used very very cheep materials. we moved in little over a month now, the master bedroom closet where we hang clothes fell off with the metal bar, on the other side the brackets bending down and the wood piece coming off the wall. both garage doors making scary noise when goes up. kitchen entry door from garage always hits the pantry doors, also highland painted the door hinges. first of all I believe using dead cheep materials and poor supervision caused these issues,

Do your research regarding EVERY home builder, the craftsmanship, the integrity, the build and do not just go off beautiful model homes or beautiful, new communities. Do your research on WHO you can expect living in a brand new area, try to avoid sales talk at all times and be your own salesperson / get a team you personally trust who will have your best interest at heart. Build with a company who builds fairly, prices fairly even if it is more than you want it to be, but focus on all the small details, quality, the different crews and how they treat your property, and any and all members who you have to deal with along the way making sure you state your requirements and expectations. Don't let too much time go by wasted without a lack of responses, handing things poorly with communication, quality, and dealing with non-English speaking individuals who will only make it stressful for you and the environment. Document everything, take pictures of everything, and if your budget is being overstretched, consider going with another reputable, high-quality, more designer so you can actually get what you want and what you expected from the beginning. LOCATION and area is everything, and who is all going to live in your community. Keeping in mind HOA will not do much nor help much at all even though you pay them each month - they are only there to ensure the community looks pretty, stays uniformed and has events to celebrate. ...
