We had a Highland Home in San Antonio from 2010 to 1018. We were extremely pleased with the builder and his attention to detail. I believe largely because of the great number of houses being built and issues with obtaining materials that in some cases cheaper materials were used, but we also had a couple of substitutions that were in higher categories as well. Highland has been responsive in working the punch list for warranty items since we moved in 9/1. All in all, we are pleased with the home, but the experience was different than our first Highland Home.

The devil is in the details. There are many details that did not get addressed by the construction manager. Lawn isn’t level lots of bumps which cause low spots when mowing, wood floors have hollow spots, grout in master, pencil lines on tile, smudges on paint on the ceiling and higher areas, when appliances (back ordered) were installed the damaged the trim and the wall paint, breaker for Christmas light flips back to the middle, kitchen drawer doesn’t soft close like it should. When it comes to the builder coming to my home to make repairs that they promised to do they don’t show up,

Overall, the home is beautiful. But considering what we paid for the home, the small details should not have been overlooked. Doorknobs are crooked, gaps in the caulking between the floor and baseboards, doorframes aren't level, causing several doors not to shut properly.

We bought back in July of 2020 secured the lot which was better than the timing of the home market now. One thing I will say that needs improvement are warranty tickets that need to be addressed I have about 8-10 warranty requests unanswered. I understand the market is crazy right now but at least tend to the buyers who bought the home as well. That’s all, other than that I am very pleased with the design and quality of the materials.

I think they can improve in materials and labor with better quality.

The shopping and buying experience was great but response to concerns after the sale for warranty issues is a bit discouraging to none. This overshadows everything since a new hone is a life long investment

We loved Highland Homes, but obviously as there are pros, there are cons as well. Before you buy, you get a quick response. After you buy, if there is anything to fix, you will have a hard time.

Cheaply made cabinets. Had wiring issues, split base boards, garage door issue, back door to the house howls when the wind blows and drainage issues in the back yard. For the price of the house you would think we would not have so many issues. I spent 100k less for my last house and never had this many issues.

I moved in the end of April and have put in 2 request for repairs and haven't heard back. I had a crack in the master tub when i moved in and my vanity draw has fallen out.

Still trying to get things resolved after living here for two months. Worry about issues, I’ve heard about since moving in . Painting was poor.

The quality with certain items around the house were not up to par. Who ever does quality control needs to be fired. I had a lot of things I pointed out during the build process that needed to be fixed. Blue taped it all during walk thru's with my construction manager. I was told they would be fixed. Some were but they were only the small quick fix items. My kitchen was never fixed. Drawers, cabinets are misaligned. Trim pieces were damaged and not replaced. Now after closing the cabinet company got called out to fix my issues. Now I have more issues as the workers did a horrible job and a incomplete job. After moving in had to have high land homes have a drywall guy come fix some drywall that I found the not have a straight seen at two walls. Again this all comes down to quality control and the guy that also does it , is terrible at their job. Also whoever passes the home for inspection is also terrible. I'm glad I hired a third party inspector. If I didn't hire one, my a/c duct work would not be properly secured and there would be finger jointed wood boards in the attic in spots that your not allowed to use finger jointed boards. Sales was great. Closing was great. The build process was a nightmare, horrible. Was told one thing and another thing happened. I’ll start with the positives and say the ladies (Debbie & Lindsay) in the sales office were amazing. Best experience we had when it comes to home-buying. They were on top of their game and pleasant to work with. Doug Dreiman was great and continues to answer our questions three months after closing. However, we’re disappointed with our home experience after closing. Most service requests have been fulfilled in a timely manner. However, there are details in and outside our home that lack quality and remain to be resolved. We flagged issue before closing that were told were resolved but were ignored. WE have trusses sticking out on our roof and told that’s just what it is. The white trim boards in our home were poorly installed with nails and blemishes that are noticeable. We had a used dishwasher in our home that was registered to someone else, were told no reason to cover up the cracked grout on the foundation because it will crack, and found a broken shower rod in a restroom but was told it’s better to buy one ourselves. Three months into our home and we’re still waiting on items we flagged before closing. I would highly recommend not to close or sign till the house is to your liking. I would also recommend hiring your own inspector, not sure if Highland resolved issues on their inspection report. ... Más

Our overall buying experience was good. We were thoroughly informed about our options throughout the process and our sales rep always handled himself professionally, being plenty patient with any of our inquiries. Where Highland Homes becomes “just another builder out to make a quick buck” is with the integrity that follows moving in. Every builder misses things, but we figured that given Highland Home’s reputation, things would be different when it came to home repairs. We were wrong. We have been dealing with an issue concerning one of our appliances tripping a breaker. Initially, we were told by our project manager that Highland Homes has been experiencing this due to a new code being passed. They sent an electrician and he “assessed” both the dryer and their breaker. They “swapped out” a breaker and left it at that. The dryer continues to trip the breaker and they have now pivoted to asking that we either replace a wire on an appliance that was previously working perfectly, or better yet, have that wire completely removed, making it a fire hazard. The luster of being a new homeowner via Highland Homes has quickly faded. So be warned if you expect them to live up to their word. It truly is a shame that people operate this way, especially after such a meaningful purchase, but these companies are always ultimately out to make a profit and look the other way when held accountable. Lot of plumbing issue, I had lot of high expectations from Highland homes.

My experience in purchasing a home with HighLands homes has been exceptional with the Sales rep. at WoodForest however not so well since the workmanship and quality build has been very poor and am highly dissatisfied since the many sub contractors hired on lacked experience, quality build, workmanship, poor judgment. These contractors did not care about their job, they just came in to do the bare minimum and left to goto the next job. I monitored my home build daily. I would come on site over see the build, take pictures on the progress of the build and saw so many mistakes these contractors were doing, some of which these contractors should have been fired on the spot. ... I came to Highland Homes after I heard great reviews and rave about them. My buying experience was good. Very transparent and prompt team. My experience with quality of material is horrible. I literally have issues with everything. From tiles to flooring. Paint to cabinet quality. Cleaning was off when we entered. From day 1 onwards I am chasing someone to fix issues and its more than 2 months now and issues still exist. Its my weekly task to log complaints and coordinate with multiple people to fix issues. Very bad experience on my first home.

Do not trust, don't sign documents until they finish the final walk through issues

We moved from out of state and were not able to visit during the majority of the build process. Lula and Javier both made this process seem easy and worry-free. After living in the home a couple months now, we are amazed by the quality of the build and still haven’t been able to find any issues. Every minor detail that needed to be corrected before we moved in was done so in time to keep the build right on schedule. Our next home will be build with Highland Homes!

Highland homes did a fantastic job on our new home, responding quickly to questions and resolving issues quickly.

We purchased a new home in homestead community. The buying process was great from Terri to the financial was seamless. We had an issue with the garage door they fixed and took care of very quickly which was great. However I feel the used the cheapest products in the home from the carpet which looks like it’s 10 years old after only 2 months. We only have three people living in the house and we don’t abuse or walk back and forth like a busy street for it to be worn down so quickly. Also faucets and other products used were very cheap quality. We also have no mailbox after months of living in the house and we have been getting the run around on when we will have a mailbox. We currently have to go back and forth to the post office to get mail! The sod that was put down is subpar full of weeds and just throw down most smooth lumps and looks bad, hard to mow! Noticed careless craftsmanship after being in the house as well after paying 500k you would think you would get a quality product sadly I don’t !! ... Más
