I recently built and closed a home with Highland Homes. Overall, the home turned out well, and I’m happy with the end result, but the process required active involvement to get everything to the right standard. What went well Home quality: The overall structure and layout are strong. The final look is clean and modern with the right selections. Design options: The design center offers a solid range of choices to create a cohesive finish. Timeline: Construction and closing stayed mostly on track. Responsiveness and service: This is where they did very well. The team responded quickly to issues and worked to resolve them without much pushback. Even larger items were addressed, which I appreciated. Areas for improvement Finish quality and workmanship: Painting quality was below expectation and required multiple touch-ups after move-in Sheetrock had visible imperfections that needed correction Some finishing details lacked consistency Post-close issues: Backyard grading and drainage concerns Sprinkler zones not functioning properly Uneven sod and soft spots in parts of the yard Subcontractor consistency: Trades like painting, drywall, and landscaping did not always match the quality of the main build Design center guidance: While options are good, the guidance during selection could be stronger I had to rely heavily on my own research to make the right long-term decisions Warranty expectations: Some items are only addressed if they meet specific thresholds, which may not always align with homeowner expectations Advice for future buyers Stay involved throughout the build Pay close attention to paint, drywall, and finishing before closing Check irrigation and grading carefully Do your own research during design selections Raise issues early and clearly Overall Highland Homes delivers a strong end product, and their team stands behind their work when issues are raised. Home is very nice and no major issues so far. However, we feel that landscaping, cabinet shelving, and small master bedroom closet could be improved.

It was very easy to work with the builder’s agent, Jack L., during the planning process. He was quick to respond and consistently kept me informed about building progress. The construction manager, Bennett, was excellent — I really appreciated the weekly update emails and the site visits to review progress in person. I only wish the closing process had not felt so rushed. Overall, it was a very good experience

Unfortunately, one of the subcontractors absolutely failed in trying to resolve an ongoing issue. While it was finally resolved, it was because of my persistence, not the builder’s or the subcontractor’s efforts. This one experience was a total fail which turned an otherwise amazing homebuyer experience from all 5’s to all 4’s.

Got great value and build quality from highland. Build manager Greg is great and finance team was responsive. Only lackluster experience was with our sales counselors Ayse who basically stopped being responsive once we signed the contract. Outside of that disappointment have been please without purchase.

We had a few hiccups early on in the construction process. But, once Eric got involved everything worked smoothly. Eric is EXTREMELY good at his job and was very responsive to any and all my concerns!

Communication and follow thru was missing at times. It felt like we didn't know where things were such as sprinkler system to shut down the water consumption. We've been in our new home for six weeks and some (not all) repairs are finally being taken care of. We still have an issue with the kitchen cabinet drawer broken. Design of home is nice, functionality is less than desirable. For example the kitchen does not have enough counter space or cabinets. Very tight between island and stove area.

Sales team was great pat and kitty. Home loan process was fairly good. Hank was awesome. Christi was helpful but confused me on a few items. Spencer has been good and responsive for warranty. Main issues drywallers did a poor job. Walls appeared bowed or sloppy, outlet cuts are huge when replacing switches with smart switches, the plates don’t cover there big cuts. Some walls missing texture. One wall had a soft spot but was fixed. Mortar/bricklayers guys did a poor job as well. Tons of mortar voids all over. Several walls the bricks are not straight and bowed inward. Tile guys did alright for the most part but could improve. A few backsplash tiles are crooked. ... Más

The house is very nice. Every person I’ve worked with was a wonderful. I feel like there was some things that were too rushed through and was some visible. When I asked for something to be done, though, everyone listened and explained the situation and took care of what I needed.

Lots of ups and downs with finalizing the home. No fault or disrespect to the highland team. Michael was fantastic to work with and was very responsive with issues that arose and resolved them as quickly as possible.

The entire process was good, and I was fairly compensated for the six months delay. The house was exactly as I expected it to be. I am happy with the price I paid; it was a good value. Highlands Homes is a trustworthy company; they provided everything that was promised to me, I would recommend Highland Homes for anyone planning to build.

We’re very happy with our new home built by Highland Homes. The construction quality, design, and attention to detail really impressed us. From the initial walkthrough to the final touches, everything was handled professionally. The sales team was friendly, informative, and made the entire process feel smooth and stress-free. That said, we were a bit disappointed to see the base price of our floor plan drop less than a month after we closed. We understand that pricing can shift with the market, but such a quick decrease felt discouraging, especially after making such a big investment. Overall, we still love our home and appreciate the craftsmanship and care that went into building it. We would definitely recommend Highland Homes to others, but we hope that pricing transparency becomes a stronger part of the buyer experience moving forward. ... Más

There were some miscommunications and moments of friction during the process, but in the end, Highland did come through and delivered a good-quality home. To future buyers: do not wait until the final walk through to start identifying issues - start early, while the home is still under construction. Be proactive, visit the site often, and keep detailed notes. This will help you and Highland work together toward delivering a more complete and accurate final product. Some details fell through the cracks at the design center -for example, the tile behind the mirrors in the master bath, which was not included in the final build (we assumed it would be, since it was shown in the model). Do not assume something is included, verify. That said, we had to reference our paperwork multiple times and advocate for items that were supposed to be included. There appears to be a disconnect between Highland corporate, the sales/design team, and the contractors doing the actual construction. On more than one occasion, we had to point out selections that the builders had not been informed of. That said, once issues were raised, Highland was generally responsive and worked with us to make things right. Aside from these challenges, the overall experience and final outcome were positive. Just go into the process with the understanding that active involvement is essential to avoid missteps and ensure you get the home you were promised. ... Más

Overall experience was great & process relatively hassle free.

Several construction items (Awning not properly installed above front entrance.) that required numerous contacts / conversations to have resolved.

Kevin in the sales department was very helpful and not pushy when it comes to choosing your new home.

Overall, it’s been a good experience with Highland Homes, they have been very attentive when issue s arise , and as long as you follow up they make sure the work gets done, the home they delivered is well polished and thoughtfully furnished , I am happy to be part of highland community
