I like my home and most of the process was good. However, when an issue arose, that KB had not disclosed to me in a timely manner, it was made clear that I was not as important as their bottom line and that "Business was Business" per Jerrod in Management. It was 3 weeks before I was due to close. I think Jerrod would have been happy if I just walked away. It left a really bad impression and undermined all of the good things and good people that work for KB. Kudos to Darin, Sarah, and Tom. They were great. Amanda in closing was slow to respond which made doing a cash deal really difficult. I've been in my home 2 months now. I am still waiting on some "blue tape" items identified at final walk through to be completed. ... Más

The overall home buying experience was okay! There is absolutely no problem with the home but, I wish they treated the customers good enough because we faced issues with the sales person, who was very rude and lacked customer service skills. Despite multiple requests, certain tasks were only completed after persistent follow-ups, leaving a less than satisfactory impression on the customer service front.

exterior home lights do not work. keep getting the run-around and have work order placed. cabinet has crack in it. tub has dent. no power or way to activate vent in 2nd bathroom on 3rd floor.

The purchasing process was easy and without any issues. The problem was seeing the poor quality of workmanship and materials used. There is definitely room for improvement when it comes to responding to issues that you run into once you move in.

The sales person was very helpful. I was disappointed with the fencing. The ground was not level so the fencing between neighbors is not even. They made the fence gates between neighbors higher then the other. The heights of the fences between the houses is high and low. Like the ground is uneven. There are gaps below the fence. I can’t even let the dog out for fear he will slip under the gate and get out. And the space on one side of the house is average and the other side is very narrow. The smaller side has the adjacent fence higher so we HAVE to put a retaining wall otherwise when it rain the mud will roll down and wash the dirt from under the fence and it will leave a gap. Some of the walls in the bathroom are flat paint while others are glossy. The carpet was supposed to be an upgrade but it looks cheap. More money was spent on padding for carpet than the carpet itself. The washroom did not come with any cabinets at ALL. The plants they put in the front yard were sporadically placed. And just random plants put in. I was told The home owners association was supposed to keep up the bark and weeds. We are paying almost $200 and yet the bark has no weed blocker laid down prior to placing the bark. And no one has come around to pull weeds. I have had to pull them myself. I had major issues with KB since about half way through the home buying process. I was getting minimal updates and my initial time frame was pushed by months. Finally, at the end, my closing kept moving all around which made getting an appropriate private inspection difficult to do. KB stated it needed to be done a week before closing but when my inspector did come, so much still needed to be done and then closing got pushed. I mentioned from many months ahead that it could not be on a certain date as I would be out of the state, but still that's the time frame they had to do it to meet quarter numbers. Then as we get to that date, it needed to be pushed out once again. We get to walkthrough and while there is a vast improvement, so much still needed to get fixed. We'll, we decided to close anyways. Now, I'm finding things done so poorly that some bedroom doors can't even be closed properly, paint jobs are needed and even caulking near showers were incomplete. While I've had a great experience with the construction manager, he can only help so much while still working on getting other houses completed. Now, I'm trying to go through warranty for a water heater beeping that has been doing on for over a month and while I someone has gotten a hold of me, the person who would actually reach out (my community's representative) has not. So now we learned to live with the beep. Overall, these builders had so much potential to have a beautiful home without any issues if it wasn't so rushed and disorganized, but it's hard to be happy when I'm still dealing with so many issues. ... The entire process from initial purchase to final move was average. one major item in our kitchen that we were never told about and was not in the model is the exhaust fan above the microwave oven that just doesn't look right and takes away the consistence I the model had above the kitchen cabinet it appears like an after thought. After moving in we had issues with the bathroom vents in one case water entered the bathroom after it rained and in the other bathroom the ceiling started to form bubbles in both cases the galvanized vents were not installed on the roof tops. The builders team were responsive to our calls depending on the issue we were calling them about. My recommendation to any potential buyer is that all the work is being performed by subcontractors and not directly KB workers thus builders commitment is not as I would imagine or have seen with KB homes in California. If you are planning on buying a home from KB I recommend frequently visit to your new home as it is being built, take picture, report and document everything to the builder that your dissatisfied with. One more recommendation I have for KB leave extra paint with every new house you sell so that the owner can perform touchups to the wall, front door and so-forth. One more request please remove the outhouse that sits across my home, it is disappointing to see every morning I leave my home to go to work. ... Más

We love our new home, but we do not like our yard. KB needs to put more effort into how they sod and seed the outside. They left rocks everywhere and the sod is awful

The experience was good but not great. The sales rep Petra was really responsive and was answering questions great until the sale was finalizing. Toward the closing of the property, only information given was delays after delays with no explanation. Had to get construction supervisor involved to get information that was supposedly passed on to the rep. On closing day, sales rep was no where to be found and we had to ask another rep for a sign and take our own picture. It’s been almost 2 months since closing and not a single follow up other than automated emails. For a huge multi million builder, please do better in the sales department and have people who actually care about people. ... Más

They rushed to get us in to meet their quota.

Few minor problems got fix but took time more than we expected. Couple major problems, some were already fixed, one looks like won't be able to get fixed. Construction next door leaves debris, splashes, etc. to our property.

Please make sure you are in contact with the staff and have items prepared. Don't be afraid to ask questions of any sort.

Attention to detail isn’t there. Holes hidden behind light fixtures, drywall not texted and covered with a mirror, ect.

We had to wait an additional 5 months due to PG&E transformer. Then when the transformer showed up, no one was on site to direct PG&E on which home to install the electric meter. So the first 10 home that were completed ended up being one of the last home getting moved in due to meters were installed to homes that recently got built. But “Upper” management didn’t think it was necessary to provide any additional compensation because they didn’t want to show any “favoritism”. But yet, home buyer that only waiting 3-4 months got to moved in first in reverse order. Fully inspect your home during your final walk before move in. Plenty of mistak/short cut that needed to be addressed. 1. Corner of the walls have crack due to “settlement”, (address this before the customer sees it then). 2. “Upgraded” kitchen sink had a manufacturing defect, they tried to cover it up with paint….now they have to rip the entire counter top to replace the sink and I how to wait 10 days without being able to use my kitchen sink for a family of 6… 3. Inspect all area that should receive caulk, they missed plenty of area. 4. Garage door belt was tighten so tight that the motor was thinking that something was hitting the door every other time we tried closing the garage door. I had to adjust myself. 5.restroom came equipped with “humidity exhaust fan” that doesn’t turn on when the restroom has 100% humidity. Smh ... Más

The house is adequate. It is a cookie cutter house in a development. All the houses look the same and feel the same. I am satisfied that they did the job expected of them. Employees of KB are competent. Since I've never dealt with another new home builder, I don't know if the are better or worse than other.

We were provided with incorrect information prior to purchase. Were told that there was only one home left to build in this area and that is why they were selling this display home at reduced price. Three more homes have been built across the street since we moved in. Home insurance company notified us that they were canceling our insurance due to a roofing issue. The shingle were rolling or curling. KB Homes said this was not under warranty (2 months after purchasing home) but they would repair it out of gratuity. Still have to provide proof to the insurance company. Now we have discovered that blown in insulation was not completed in the attic. Wonder how KB will react to this. Price, options, and the builder Adrian was the best part of the process, we didn't have to chase him for answers, dates, etc. and he even helped reach out on our behalf for the closing date and time since the seller and the loan officer were not responding and assisted changing those times when the original times were not approved or even discussed with us. Hope y'all keep Adrian and give him a raise for sure. The loan officer, seller, and closing were all a pain. Loan officer and seller never reached out and we had to chase them for any answers we needed for months, it got so bad I rather just contact Adrian (the builder) and have him help me with any questions I had about anything than chase the other 2. At the closing they told us it would take an hour but due to our papers being incorrect (names and address on multiple papers) we had to stay for 3+ hours. ... Más

Our home was completed ahead of schedule. Sales personnel were helpful during the process. The construction supervisors, were responsive to concerns during and after construction, and communication with them was very good. They have a challenging job, as the skill-of-the-craft is not what it used to be within the trades, so followup issues kept them quite busy.

Quality of workmanship is lacking specifically painting of the doors, accent windows, etc. Still see paint drips and paint of glass of glass doors and windows. Make sure to fully understand what specials are being offered. Some of the sales rep are not familiar with the specials and can provide conflicting information. Have these resolve as soon as possible or you will lose out on the special.

Personally I am happy with the staff and the responsiveness. But overall the Community doesnt have a new house appeal. When you look from outside, there is a big difference between the New houses from other builders (for e.g HeadWaters) and K.B Homes. K.B Homes needs an upgrade with it looks. I bought it here because I had no other option for new Construction. There are limited option in Upgrades and most of them are outdated. Totally dissatisfied with Home Pro. They do not know anything about Customer Service. I would have given 4 Stars even with limited options for Upgrades. But I gave 3 stars because of Home Pro. ... Más

Our direct contact with the builder was through Melissa. She was great in responding to our concerns and issues. The fact that there were (and continue to be) so many issues with this home is disappointing. The craftsmanship and materials (painting, woodwork, even cement) used for this home leaves a lot to be desired. Less than a month inside the home and basic installation issues continue. We are on our 3rd refrigerator, the cement in the garage is a joke. The sod for landscaping is full of weeds. The rear screen door has already been replaced (apparently damaged when they resurfaced part of the patio cement for a 3rd time) and we just found another hole in one of the window screens. The bathtubs had rust stains that had to be removed and the HVAC installation was flawed. Again, let me be clear, Melissa has been great in addressing these issues, but she cannot complete the necessary delivery and service herself. When the 2nd refrigerator was removed, they damaged the front door, which now needs to be repainted. I have purchased 3 new homes in my life and NEVER have I had to have so many call-backs to repair faulty installation. I have never seen such shotty painting (paint drops on the screens and outdoor shrubs). I have only referenced some of the issues we have faced. To make matters worse, I have talked to some of the neighbors who have faced similar issues. We bought from KBHomes due to the cheaper price compared to other builders but it was a definitely a "you get what you pay for" experience. The house just looked okay from afar but when you get closer and closer you see the poor work done, the inconsistencies, the broken stuff underneath the surface, etc.
