I did my closing on August (two months ago) and I’m starting to have issues with the home pertaining to roofing, walls tearing out and breaking, squeaking floors on the second floor, loose toilets. Definitely not satisfied with KB Home, they rushed at the end to closing and for this reason I will not recommend this home builder. Comparing with other home builder that I’ve seen, KB have lower construction standards by far.

While the home is a beautiful home, the journey was miserable. Most issues were handled but the concrete work was poor.

I AM DISAPPOINT WITH THE QUALITY

There is just to many things to itemized. The house upon completion looked like it was completed with out supervision. To the point that when I was on the final walk through there was a picture of a Man's Private Part drawn on the Garage wall and it was unseen by the project manager. Then they ask you repeatedly if you can give them 10's on the Construction manager survey over and over even though they know it is not deserved but you feel compelled to or the stuff you need fixed in you newly bought home will not get fixed or it will be done with a grudge. I do not plan on getting another KB home after this experience and I am telling everyone I know that even if they can find a home that is smaller but cost more than a KB home go with the smoller home that is better quality. All you get with KB is more sqft for the price. But then you have to question what problems am I going to have to deal with after I get in the home because the home was so poorly built. ... Más

No answer when there is an issue. All they really want is your money. Pushes you to sign and do walk thru as soon as possible even with issues present. Once you sign they will ignore you and not answer any phones calls for issues they were suppose to fix PRIOR to walk thru.

My experience with KB Home has not been good. First, our closing date kept being moved. This cost us more money for rental trailer. We drove to Texas from Los Angeles expecting to enter a "move-in ready" home. It was far from ready for anyone to move in! Our Toilet was not attached in one bathroom and the times underneath were all broken from someone apparently working on it. Our second bathroom had a sign on the Toilet that said "do not use". Our tile floor was a mess! There are chips in many of the times. The times are uneven and unevenly spaces along with slopes in the living room. All of the base board needed to be repainted. Our venta were put in wrong and the ceiling was cut to large to fit the venta it, but no one fixed it so we had gaps in the ceiling and extra nail holes. Some of the Doors including the front door did not close correctly. The backyard was full of trash. It also had an area that was sinking. I could go on and on about all of the issues, but I believe you get the point. I wrote emails with pictures to the corporate office and they responded quickly. However, we have been in the home for almost two months and we still have people coming to fix issues. If I would have known about the quality of work I would have gone with a different builder. Purchased a home for cash two months ago. Was assured several times that need repairs would be would completed. Had walk through with Thomas and his assistant. Both are very competent and respectful individuals. The problem seems to be management has understaffed the construction/repair unit. Defective master bath mirror, stains in master tub, gray paint on white kitchen kickplate, shoddy cracked patched where wire removed from wall, gash in kitchen island. Sorely disappointed in lack of follow through and broken promises.

Do your homework, have patience and stay dilligent and atand your ground. Unfortunately the lack of communication, language barriers and transparency has been poor from start to finish. The home is beautiful, the process has been painful. Extremely painful. I wish we had a different experience. It is supposed to be THE most exciting time of your life, sadly KB hasn't made us feel that way. We are almost two months in and still working to complete the punch list to make things right.

The house looks good on the surface, however there were more and more issues cropping up after moving in. We are sitting here months after move in with holes in walls behind appliances, mice getting in from poor drywall in garage, sinks with stoppers that don't work, nails in walls, and poor out door railing that is so rough you cant run your hand up or down it with out getting a splinter. None of these issues seem to be getting resolved any time soon either since their customer service is slow and unresponsive.

Warranty group is has responded slowly or not at all to post closing issues

Waiting for completion and repair of fencing (overall- poor execution) miscellaneous broken items inside and outside the home. Lack of response and therefore attention to these matters is unacceptable

KB builder is worse than what I expected. The quality in every area is not good!! I’ve called for service to fix the paint after moving in and no one answers and no one calls back when I leave a voicemail. Getting things fixed is not their priority because they are still short handed. I’m still waiting for an appointment confirmation for another issue I saw outside. Did I mention the nails that were left on the floor in my garage, the driveway, and the street when I moved in? I’ll say it again, I will never buy another KB home nor will I recommend KB to anyone.

I waited on doing this review for things to get fixed but Im just constantly let down. Appointments missed, appointments where people come out with no materials, craftsmen coming and making more of a mess, I am just not happy at ALL.

I reported the sliding door is damaged and installed backwards, someone came to look at it and I never heard from anyone again. I had an access panel to space under the stairwell installed and found it was completely full of scrap sheet rock. That just screams we don’t car … why not properly discard scraps instead of leaving them hidden in my house, what else is hidden in my house? I dare not look in the attic. Overall the workmanship in my opinion lacks pride. My opinion has gone down since I moved in.

Still having major issues with the home. And small issues. Calls were never returned notes were never updated or taken a very confusing process poor customer service. They would say they were going to do something but then go back on their word multiple times.

This was not the experience I was expecting when purchasing a new home built from the ground up. Too many issues. Not enough communication. Too many issues after communication. No one seemed to be on the same page. Sales or construction supervisors. Had multiple supervisors the right hand never seem to know what the left was doing.

It was a terrible mistake to buy from KB home which could not deliver in a timely matter with below standard workman ship. Unlike what the company claims that they are number one, I learned the hard way about them with loss of over $20,000 during one year of waiting and responding to unrelated requests for loan documents which was ridiculous like writing essay for marketing properties. I am still waiting to hear from them about some outstanding issues.

the buying process was good minus issues related to the lender. After moving in, I have noticed a lot of poor building. Builders cut a lot of corners thus requiring things to be repaired after. The front door was not aligned properly thus the door will have to be reset, the shower drain in the master bathroom was installed improperly and thus the drain is off by about an inch. Inside the kitchen cabinets, their are screw protruding through about a quarter inch. The air conditioner had no freon possibly for reason that none was initially put in and thus the house was increasing in temperature every night into the mid to high 80s or their is a leak somewhere in the house. HVac worker who came to fix the issue checked for leaks however none were found at this time. If problem persists and the new freon added is quickly used then walls will need to be removed to locate the leak. In short, I initially felt the entire process went well for the most part until actually moving in. Too many issues coming up that shouldnt be present after spending 540,000 on a home. ... Más

From the very beginning I was discriminated against by Alex. Which also led to us not using the lender for fear that we would be again discriminated against.

Lack of presence of of the promised appliances on the day of walkthrough like No Stove range, no Microwave. Lot of small issues needed to be addressed and it took almost 45 days after forcing the buyer to close on the property. I had to make repeated requests to make repairs and customer service is NOT customer oriented team at all. KB homes threaten buyers to close on the property when it is NOT move in ready. Very disappointed that as big as KB Homes building umpteen number of homes in the area, conducting in this unprofessional manner taking the joy of owning a new from the buyers. I heard the same complaints from other home owners in the locality. Simply disappointing and frustrating and KB Homes won’t give a hoot and won’t budge in to compensate either. Will never buy another home from the builder I must mention that Scott the sales person and Construction supervisor Chris were professional and nice but my complaint is about the builder. ... Más

We do not advise other home buyers to get the idea that you are buying a new home. Home was not and still is not after 2 months 100% completed. Quality of workmanship is lacking and not upheld by supervisors. People seem to have good intentions but actions are not reflecting this. Issues that had been pointed out before are simply being deferred to

Finance through the entire process was a nightmare, zero communication. I’m a first time buyer and they just uploaded more and more documents with ZERO explanation of what I was supposed to be signing. Finally after a very serious email threatening to back out of the entire thing someone reached out to me and basically told me they just need me to sign, It’s not really important stuff right now, when it is they’ll explain it. Keep in mind these are all financial documents. I put my earnest money down Jan 29th, on a “move in ready” home, my closing was listed as end of march. After pushing it out a week at a time with no updates I finally closed may 5th. Final items on construction list were done hastily and some had to be redone multiple times. Very little work done all of feb or march. Bulk done in April and with most getting finished the final 2 weeks. The entire process had me wanting to back out but I felt like there wasn’t really a better option financially. It was the best price for the size I needed including preowned homes. My lease was ending and I had put all my faith into this endeavor. They had to call in Mario, a different construction supervisor the last two weeks because of how unhappy I was, it is because of him that I went through with it. He communicated and actually explained the delays and seemed like he knew what he was talking about. I closed with only 4 days to move myself from my 2300 sq ft rental and have it inspection ready. Things still need to be fixed that weren’t caught during the final walk. There was a hold up with the electric company that prevented me from switching services for an entire month. I don’t believe the caulk that the painters used during touch up was the right kind or maybe because they painted over it immediately all the paint cracked and it does not look like the what I expected from a BRAND NEW 300k+ home. Most touch ups look like the landlord special. They told me they would do a courtesy paint touch up after everything was moved in. I basically declined it because I had to unpack after work every day and after a month I’m still not done, and after seeing how the last touch up went I’ll just take care of it myself. Flat paint was used throughout the entire house and I was told if you get something on the wall don’t try to wipe it off just paint over it or you’ll rub off the texture. All in all the quality is not even close to what I expected for the price but I just told myself that’s the best you’re going to get in this economy, and I can fix things myself and make them better. ... The entire experience is one of the worst I have ever had and this is the third home that I’ve built. The completion time was twice as long as I was promised, and the quality of the work is mediocre at best. It’s almost impossible to get things resolved off your punchlist. I have been in the house for two months and things that were supposed to be resolved after my 10 day walk-through are still not resolved. It’s only recently that I started dealing with Mike one of the people in charge of this development that I have been able to get things addressed, he is great but the entire experience has been horrific. ... We closed on the home April 20 and I let the builder know that they had 3 weeks to fix the already existing issues until my family moved in on May 12. When we showed up to the house 3 weeks later the house was unfinished. The same issues were still not completed. The house wasn't even cleaned and ready for us to live in it. There are items that we paid for that aren't installed on the house and vice a versa.

Construction took nearly a year. After the move in, there were tons of issues- The builder did not install the correct window in our son’s room and they had to cut the window out and re-install a new one. They made a mess and it took a week for the project to be finished. The power went out for a 1/3 of our home and it wasn’t considered an “emergency”, therefore was not fixed immediately. The loan people at KB were also dishonest and did not act professionally. There were several other issues as well. Overall, KB does not seem to care about their customers.
