Given this horrendous disappointing experience with sales, construction and customer service, we do not plan to do business with KB Homes again nor recommend KB Homes as a viable option. We take pride in companies that display respect, dignity, integrity, accountability and sincere customer service. We have had experiences with The New Home Company and Tri Pointe Homes, which have all surpassed the level of customer service, integrity, and overall satisfaction we've recently experienced with KB Homes. The lack of professionalism, integrity and accountability speaks louder than words. ALSO, we’re noticing the home is built poorly. Paper thin walls. Pretty sure they used styrofoam and sheet rock for walls…only put wood behind sheet rock for load bearing walls, which is less than half the house- making it freezing during winter. Extremely poor communication and rushed process. Warranty items are very slow moving

Let's start from the beginning. I found myself in a position to purchase a home. I thought to myself wouldn't it be nice to own a house so close to downtown Raleigh? Well, yes it would have been nice. To be honest the location is in an area with lots of growth. But, the point is the house is a complete disaster. I have never in my life been struck with such intense buyers remorse than after the purchase of this home. This WILL be my first and last purchase with KB home. The list of issues I have with this house are numerous. To be honest I have never in my life seen such poor craftsmanship in a new construction home. Somehow when whatever you call "warranty" work is done mud gets tracked into my house. The workers never cleanup after themselves and they do work that honestly a high schooler in carpentry class could do a better job. It's an absolute joke that some of the people working on these houses call themselves tradesmen. I don't feel like I come home to a new house every day after work. No, I come home to my little house of nightmares. I paid for a new house but instead I got the used car lot equivalent of one. ... Más

Not Happy with quality of the completion

Found cracks inside and outside of the house,driveways and is not been fixed yet.

As soon as you give them a good review they don’t reply to your calls, voice messages or emails.

I have horrible experience with KB, very slow haven't met any of the timelines they have provided, you will not get answer to your questions, bad quality in most parts and this happens primarily due to time constraints to close. Never ever getting a home through KB Homes

I got home with ceiling fan, the backdoor sliding door was dented. The response from KBhome was super slow. I had to escalate it to corporate office to find the supervisor information and even after that I had to make multiple calls to get a response. Finally they responded but getting the work done is super slow. Also KB home in their base mode (price they put on the website) is a bare bones house. E.g they don't even give handle to door, garage door opener, LED lights as default. These are we need to take as upgrade.

The home was delivered a full six months after it was promised—and the problem was not the pandemic! The problem was the company’s policy of hiring unskilled workers— and perhaps not paying well enough? Management changed on a regular basis—sometimes monthly—and thus there was no accountability. Shockingly bad workmanship throughout the home left us seriously disappointed. The sales team promised high value—and we estimate the house is actually In value about HALF what we paid for it. Charges top dollar, delivers DIY quality

As a first time homebuyer I was initally very excited, but as time progressed, I became utterly disappointed with the whole process. The numerous delays, lack of communication and now that we are in the home, there are still a multitude of things wrong with the home, that we have been waiting almost 2 months for to be repaired. I will not buy another KB Home.

Just found out that the downstairs bathroom is flooding our walls around it and now growing mold. Kitchen sink had construction debris, with a wood chip clogged in the Ling causing sputtering and low pressure to the sink. Misaligned windows are still not aligned. Doorknobs installed in the wrong room and installed backwards and a bathroom missing locks. Kitchen GFI and gas stove on the same circuit tripping the outside breaker when even turning on the oven light.

Bad experiences... still need improvement pre-sales and post-sales.

I had my worst experience buying a home from KB.

A lot of talk of doing the right thing not not much really being done. Still not finish with stuff promised would be done before closing and more issue keep being found and things falling part.

Our home isn’t finished! It’s been 2 months since we closed.

Terrible experience. First home buyer been my dream to own a home and my dream was shattered. Multiple unresolved issues months since closing still till today. Very poor responsiveness from builders who is clearly overworked with too many houses. Will do my best to avoid kb homes in the future

Unfortunately the entire experience was not what we were expecting. From the time we signed the contract to closing it felt at most times pulling teeth from construction to know about the status of our home. They would not commit to any estimate closing dates even though our sales coordinator and finance told us they can see on reports of one. When we got closer to closing, our superintendent of construction did not inform us until the day before closing that he was not going to have about 7 things ready in the home until after closing. (Shower enclosure, cabinet handles, window screens, closet shelfs, etc..) This was the same day that our kitchen counters were just being installed and he didnt have us walk through the kitchen for us to see that the switch for the sink garbage disposal was too high that the switch was hitting the sink that would not allow the switch to turn on the disposal. On the day of the closing, we were hoping to go our home as ready as it can be to only find out that the wntire home was not cleaned and found more issues with the home. We learned that the water heater was leaking, the entry garage door that connected the home to the garage was not installed correctly that doesnt properly closes the door (we later learned that the door frame was installed badly), and the electric wire in the master bedroom was crossed that would not allow a light fixture to go off when flipping the switches. When all of this was reported to the superintendent of construction, it felt like it went no where. We were exhausted after this entire process and sad to say we now have to do the work ourselves to ensure things are done right! I purchased a brand new home at the Mattie Pointe community in Auburndale Florida on 10/17/2022. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever imaged the disappointment I would have on what was supposed to be my dream home in Florida. It started on the day of my walk through that was scheduled 3 hours prior to my closing appointment in Orlando. I arrived to an unlocked home that was filled with construction materials, filthy, uncompleted work and many damages that needed to be addressed such as damaged kitchen cabinets, missing door locks, cosmetic damages to walls, broken window sill and much more to list. To add insult to it all, the construction manager was a “no show” for the walk through. I had to call our KB sales agent ( Mary) to come and see what I walked into that day. Mary herself was in disbelieve at the condition of the home that we were scheduled to close on in just a few hours. She was able to contact another construction manager ( Bryan ) to come and perform the walk through with us. At that time an exception letter was drafted with the issues that needed to be addressed to allow us to close as scheduled. I was assured my Bryan that all issues would be rectified in 30 days of signing. All said issues have not been completed and my latest construction issues has become a complete nightmare. What I have experienced with KB homes is complete dissatisfaction and have experienced the failures of the tradesmen that KB has hired to perform their construction of their homes. Tradesmen who do not takes pride in their work leading to construction issues that all could be prevented if they did. I have experienced nothing but empty promises to having work done on my home that should have been done correctly in the first place if people would have just taken pride on the work they do. The most unfortunate aspect is that their failures fall on KB’s reputation. The first day I moved in on 10/17 my master shower would not drain. I contacted the warranty department to have this addressed . It has been one set back after another and as of today still not completed. I have had to make several calls to have my shower repaired. The first plumber who came out to inspect the shower confirmed that there had been concrete poured down the drain and that is why the shower would not drain. The plumber left and said I would receive a phone call with further instructions. I never received any phone call and finally had to contact the warranty department again to find out what the next step would need to be. It was confirmed that a new shower pan would need to be installed in order to rectify this issue. Keep in mind that this has been an issue with alot of back and forth emails and phone calls since October. On 11/17 a service crew came out to remove the shower door and track. I was informed by the service man that the shower doors had been installed backwards and that when he returns to reinstall he will do them correctly.. Really! On 11/21 a crew came in to remove tile and drywall then the plumbing crew arrived to remove the old shower pan and replace with the new one. On 11/22 the tile crew returned to inform me that they could not re-tile the shower because the brand new shower pan was incorrectly installed. The plumbing supervisor returned to inspect the shower pan and said the pan was in stalled correctly and that the wall was not constructually correct and needed repair. The plumbing supervisor contacted the construction supervisor to come an inspect the wall. He would correct the wall himself and contact the tile crew to come back and complete the tile work. The construction supervisor left my home stating he did the necessary repairs and the tile crew would be back today to complete their work. A few hours later a construction serviceman arrived stating he was called to come and fix the wall in the shower. I had informed him that I was told it was all fixed by the construction manager. I had the construction serviceman exam the repair and was told that it was done incorrectly and was not the way a problem of that nature should be fixed. He then insisted on completing the repair and completing it correctly. The construction serviceman then informed me that the new shower pan that was installed less than 24 hours prior had been damaged with scratches and a corner piece broken off. These damage were not there during the plumbing inspection that was done with myself present that morning. These damages were done during the initial repair done by the construction manager. It’s now December and I still do not have use of my master bathroom and none of the other construction issues have been corrected. The lack of “ caring “ about the home owner from your construction tradesman, construction manager and your warranty department is just unimaginable. The lack of communication and sense of urgency in completing tasks is truly disheartening. Not to mention all the time I have taken out of work to get these repairs completed and still not one thing fixed. I am a home buyer who purchased my home in CASH. I expected to have a brand new home without damages and in working order. I purchased a home that was supposed to have 2 working bathrooms and beautiful undamaged kitchen cabinets, a wall that was supposed to be constructioned properly.. I did not receive any of those things. Would you go to a car dealership and purchase a brand new car with scratches and the engine not working?? I would hope not. My review of KB homes would rate poorly on customer service and I would not recommend using this builder. ... Más

Bad construction and repair time.

This is my second home that I have purchased with KB. The first home that I purchased was in Sacramento, CA. We had some build issues but most of them were resolved in a timely matter. We moved into our new home on 10/7. We first started with a close date that was changed at the last minute. Our rate was already locked in for 10/7 so we had no choice but to close. Trusting the superintendent, we thought majority of the issues would be resolved. We got a 3rd party inspection prior to close which uncovered even more issues. The superintendent lead us to believe that the issues would be resolved and there was no need to worry. Two months later we still have a list of major issues that need to be fixed. To avoid unnecessary cost and time spent of their superintendent, KB needs to invest in a QC group. I think it's more important to build a quality product than to allow a family to move in and encounter unresolved issues that could be avoided. ... Más

Quality of workmanship is not the greatest, we where expecting to buy a brand new house so that everything was perfect and new, which is far from what happen, we did a lot of upgrades and everything that was installed looks like it was installed by amateurs that didn’t really know what they where doing, also we recently installed a doggy door in the wall of our house and as we where cutting the stucco out it just crumbled into sand making the hole way bigger and more sloppy than it should have been not sure why the stucco just crumbled like sand we have cut multiple holes for doggy doors in other houses and have never had that outcome. ... Unfortunately, what was supposed to be an enjoyable experience turned out to be far from it. Due to a changing home sales market in June/July we struggled to get our (previous) home under contract. KB didn't care. Not only did they not want to work with us to still close on our new home, they literally gave us an ultimatum. On July 19th, we received an email which read; "Get your home under contract by Saturday, July 23 or we will consider you in breach of contract and sell them home to another buyer. If we are able to sell the home before August 30, we will return your earnest money. If not, you will forfeit the money." It's important to note that our close date wasn't until August 10. After doing some research we learned that this happened because they wanted to get the home off their books prior to their next quarterly earnings report which was, by no coincidence, one day after their ultimatum deadline. Obviously, this is not what a customer wants to be told, and things got worse before they got better. As for the quality of workmanship, we've had 3 separate leaks in our furnace system over the last 2 months. Each time we had water puddled on the basement floor. We've been told that the leaks are fixed and "shouldn't have any more." We've been here 3 months and our "30-day punch list" has about half the things done. We were told that some won't be done until the 10-month punch list. While not all of these problems are directly KB's fault, it's the fault of their subcontracted trades workers. We've seen with our own eyes that some of them do not care about the end product. They just want to get the job "done" and get paid. In fairness, I will again say that some of these problems are not directly caused by KB. However, they've been in business long enough to know that you get out what you put in. Since they continue to hire people with poor to no work ethic, in the end, it is in fact their fault. ... Más

I am a second time KB homeowner. This experience has been HORRIBLE. I have encountered multiple issues that were pointed out several weeks prior to closing. The issues pointed out, poor craftsmanship, wrong appliances installed, defective carpet installation, wrong size vanity for second bathroom, drywall application and upgraded painting application were all horrendous. I purchased a new home that should have the upgrades and appropriate workmanship I paid for. This is the biggest purchase I have ever made and has resulted in the biggest disappointment.
