If you enjoy being overpromised, undelivered, completely ignored and overall frustrated for over 6 months straight to only find yourself living in an unfinished, overpriced, cheaply built home… then you’ll LOVE Richmond American Homes. I cannot say enough terrible things about this company, and they have managed to make an experience that should be one of the most exciting and happy experiences for you and your family into a dumpster fire.

The sales agent is excellent, but unfortunately, the home is poorly built with numerous issues. Moreover, I discovered that the construction of the home did not adhere to building department codes. During the walkthrough, they may attempt to deceive you to cover their mistakes. So when the issue happens, they will not be responsible. I will be filing to the contractor board

My overall experience with Richmond American Homes was a very disappointing process. I've had various issues with repairs and currently still need some touch up work done after being moved into my home for over a month. I was constantly told to input claims and after doing so multiple times on the same issues I would never get a response. VERY POOR HOUSE QUALITY!!!

Poor house quality from floor to ceiling. We were assured of the 1st 30-day warranty to fix chips, cracks, paints, etc but nobody answered us after multiple email, calls and text messages. Very unprofessional people!! Never again with this builder!

Unbelievably complicated!

This is my fourth time buying a home, and it has easily been the most difficult, stressful, and complicated experience I have ever gone through. From dealing with the lender at closing to finally getting the keys, nothing has gone smoothly. I could have handled some bumps in the road, but this has been absolutely unbearable. Now, I am struggling to get warranty issues addressed. Before this, I had only heard positive things about Richmond Homes, but my experience has been far from what I was expecting. I truly regret choosing to purchase from Richmond.

I purchased my first home in Dec 2023. There were pending things to get fixed at the last walkthrough; however, as of today's date, we continue waiting for the builder to complete this. No one has contacted me to follow up but only after me reaching out. It has been a very disappointing experience. We bought this home with a lot of time and effort. Staff responsiveness and attention to this matter has been very poor.

The carpet is so thin and bare the carpet tack made my feet bleed. NONE of the shelving was installed into studs, I had to fix it all myself. The pantry shelves were cut too short, and I am still waiting for that to be fixed. The roof pools water on it during storms instead of having the grading set correctly. The garage door strip was cut short so I have mice in the garage. They pressure you to give them all Five Star reviews, they don't deserve them. I had to close twice because of the lack of the certificate of occupancy. I could never get a real closing date in order to schedule my movers. I lost $1500 at the 2nd closing that I wouldn't have lost in the 1st closing. There was no oversight on the trades such as my entire floor of the house. It wasn't leveled before the LVP was installed leaving hills and valleys in my flooring. This was the worst experience of my life. I would never buy from Richmond American Homes again, once you close and pay that’s it your pretty much on your own. When we did our walk through, we were told all repairs would be done on a timely manner, which has not been the case. We are going on our third month and we still have several issues, that have not been addressed. I was told by our Sales Rep and Builder to create tickets in the ticketing portal, but this has done nothing to escalate our reported issues. We have talked to our Neighbors and they are also experiencing the same issues with the Builder and Repairs. This is unacceptable in my opinion when purchasing a new home.
