Overall the experience was easy and fairly quick.

As a first time I was apprehensive of how it will be, but the Shea team helped me step by step throughout the home buying process. Most importantly since I was one of the first 3 buyers in this community we got a really good value for money.

Working with Shea has been a very positive experience. I have nothing but great things to say about them. My one negative has been the third party landscaper chosen which is Gothic Landscape. If I had known how unresponsive and unreliable they are, I would have waited to do my full landscaping with another vendor after closing.

Poor quality control. Builder unfortunately cannot refute this because this is in the eyes of the beholder. Compared to other builders I cannot say, but coming from an industry where QC is extremely important Shea does not measure up. That is to say, my neighbor may very well think the workmanship is wonderful. I do not. Issues that I have had to call to attention of builder reps were easily fixed but why did they have to be pointed and then easily fixed? One SHEA person assigned to quality control could do a quality walk through minimizing buyer complaints and the buyers failure to note discrepancies on their walk through. Shea is a quality builder. Subcontractors are "iffy". Had some major plumbing issues that were resolved. Contractors leaving garbage strewn outside construction sites that happen to be in the middle of our neighborhood. HOA dues to cover all amenities but majority of amenities are closed. ADJUSTMENT TO DUES SHOULD HAVE BEEN OFFERED

Shea started off with a good online tool to monitor progress of building process, but found it was not keeping pace with build out.

Lovely community, houses, and landscaping are as expected in a retirement area.

This is the second Shea home we’ve built. We’ve always been pleased with the quality of the finished product, as well as Shea’s service both before and after the sale.

I love the style and size of my new Shea home. It has everything I need and for the right price with quality finishes. The community is well planned to include many things to do. It is everything I was looking for to have an active life when I retire.

Great buying experience and response to issues with the structure after moving in. Very disappointed with the landscaping behind our new home. The plantings along the walking path behind our home are dead/dying and the area just full of weeds. No one seems to want to fix it. Wish we had resolved this before moving in.

Good quality, several options to make the house your home

I love the design and value of Shea homes, over all I would say they are a better than average builder. Depends on which customer service representative that being assigned, responsiveness is from bad to excellent. I had good and bad experiences with them.

We can’t say enough about Karina and how much she helped us. That being said, I wish we had any time with the landscape folks. We didn’t. Sure, at the beginning they were there but it would have been nice to have more discussions with them along the way. We bought a 600$ maple tree for the backyard that comes with no guarantees. Lowe’s and Home Depot guarantees their plants for a year. Not happy about that. We are treating that tree better then our first born son. Shea homes has been very good to us and we are thankful for that. We are somewhat concerned about having another pool or club seeing all the new building going on. Shea produced a solid home and have been responsive to issues.

We are unable to access the garage and it requires cutting the corner in the parking area to make our garage, however, if anyone is parked there it is difficult to make the turn into the garage with 1 car and impossible with our 2nd vehicle. Currently the parking spots are being used by non-tenants which fortunately has allowed us to discover this problem… when exiting, we can’t clear the cars from our garage and make the turn if they are sticking out just a hair. I honestly think making it an Emergency parking RED curb area is the only way to go! I noticed that the original Shea maps did not include a parking area behind us (unit 1504) nor did it include extending the walkway from our front door to the back garage/parking area. I assume the parking was added at some point (maybe more guest parking / per unit ratio?) This is perhaps why Shea needed the to extend our front door entry walkway to the back parking so folks could reach the Units in front? We were unable to to discover this issue during the purchase because Shea stored their equipment and porta potties in the parking area so we never could attempt an ingress or egress of the physical garage. Thanks for listening and let’s get a vote/call made to reserve that parking for emergency vehicles only and allow us to have access to our garage before more tenets move in! We were told that "NO" is a favorite word of Shea's. That is not a problem as you know exactly what you can and cannot have. However, that NO was taken to extremes when even a minor tweak for a home almost $1M was not able to be granted. Upgrades are severely overpriced and structural options are limited. The best thing TLN has going is the clubhouse community - it's why IMHO anyone would spend an exorbitant amount of money to live here.

It’s hard for me to accept that when you buy a home the brand new oven trips the breaker. Shea knew before the purchase and said nothing. Now I’m stuck waiting on a part that is three more weeks out to hopefully fix the issue. It’s already been 10’ weeks. I’ve now learned it’s a know issue with many homes in the area. Overall, our experience has been fairly positive, especially regarding the responsiveness with issues with our home after we moved in.

Josh and Jeremi were amazing! From the very beginning, Josh made sure the selection, design, and approval process went smoothly. Once the building began, Jeremi was consistently communicating and made sure we were up to date with every phase. I could not be more happy with the home buying experience because of Josh and Jeremi. After some miscommunication on the sales side, the design and production team was top notch.

Thew representative I have worked with since we moved in has been extremely responsive and excellent with following-up on various issues I couldn’t have asked for a better person to be in our court. Shea needs to do a much better job with their home warranty book they put together not all the information is in the book for registering products and it takes the home buyer several hours to get through the process as a result of this book not being complete with all the necessary information needed. There are certainly some quality issues and with the shea product and I feel they need to hire better subs to get this work done. Overall, the experience has been good. ... Más

When it comes to follow up and repairs plane on losing a lot of days of work. Had to take off twice from work and daughter missed out on school activities all so I could sit around and have nobody show up to the scheduled appointments. Not living there 24/7 makes it problematic and takes planning. Doesn't matter, the contractors give no warning they just don't show up.

It is very expensive buying a home. Upgrades are extremely overpriced, but it’s the cost of doing business.
